By the time I arrived at class 1-A I was an anxious mess. The more that I remembered my "dream" from yesterday the more mortified I felt. Had I really told him that I'd missed him and held his hand?! Memories of the interactions with Bakugo came to me like fragments of a shattered mirror. I was trying to piece them together but it was confusing and some of it didn't make sense because I'd had other dreams starring the blonde haired explosion boy and it was all starting to meld together.
Taking a deep breath to steady myself, I opened the door. Heads turned and I was met with several smiling faces.
"Nakano!" Mina squealed, waving excitedly.
"Hey, did you like the care package I dropped off yesterday?" Kirishima asked. A grin filled his face although he seemed to be trying to communicate something to me with his intense eye contact. He was also nodding his head just slightly as though encouraging me to say yes.
"Yeah..." I said, although I couldn't hide how completely disoriented I felt. My eyes immediately went to his desk, where Bakugo sat with his chair pushed back and feet up on the desk, looking ahead towards the front of the class.
"Are you sure you're feeling okay? You're looking -" Iida was power walking towards me, his arms swinging robotically by his sides when he noticed Bakugo and quickly swiveled to speed towards him. "Bakugo, how many times do I have to tell you to keep your feet off the desks and respect UA property!"
As Bakugo and Iida began bickering, Kaminari appeared beside me and snaked an arm around my neck. "I think you're looking perfect, Nakano. Did you like the tea that was in the gift basket, I picked it out myself." When I looked over at him he was wiggling his eyebrows at me and I quickly looked away.
"Dude, stop being creepy," Sero said.
"What?!" Kaminari said, dropping his arm and holding his hands up in protest. "I'm just being nice!" He seemed to genuinely be upset and kicked at the ground as he mumbled, "The gift basket was my idea in the first place."
"This is true," Mina said, walking over to join the conversation. "He did come up with the idea, so we should probably give him a little credit."
Looking at Kaminari's sad downcast face softened my heart. I reached out to grab his arm and his golden eyes shot up to meet mine. "It made my day. Seriously, thanks so much for coming up with such a thoughtful idea."
His eyes swelled and he embraced me, squeezing me tightly. From over his shoulder I saw Sero roll his eyes and Kirishima look nervous. Suddenly there was a loud explosion, startling everyone and causing Kaminari to quickly let go of me and pull back to see what was happening. Bakugo was standing up from his desk, his voice thick with rage as he screamed, "Fuck off already!"
He barreled towards where we were standing and I instinctively stepped out of his way, the memory of him shoulder checking me coming to mind. His eyes were like daggers stabbing me in the chest as our eyes locked for a moment before he passed by and exited the room which I then realized had fallen silent.
"What's with him this morning?" Uraraka asked as she entered the classroom, pointing a thumb over her shoulder.
"Well, he was arguing with Iida about having his feet up on the desk and all of a sudden he just lost it and got up and left." Midoriya said.
I glanced over at Iida, who looked shell shocked. Taking his glasses off and running his hand across his face in exasperation he said, "As class representative it is my duty to keep everyone in line. It shouldn't be that hard of a task but Bakugo really doesn't seem to care about anyone but himself. It's going to make it difficult for him to become a pro-hero one day."
