Bakugo's POV

The week crawled by at a snail's pace and the damn emo chick seemed to be keeping her distance from me. Not that I cared, I was glad that she had been less annoying lately. But I had a thought, like a tiny thread that I was afraid to pull on and completely unravel, that I kept hoping she would be more annoying and try to have a conversation with me at least. Mina often pulled her, literally pulled as though Nakano was using all of her life force to stand still as raccoon eyes dragged her, over to our lunch table and made her sit with us. She was reserved but polite and seemed to be avoiding me at all costs since that interaction we'd had in the hallway. At times our eyes would meet and I would feel something stir in the pit of my stomach but her piercing green eyes would always turn away quickly.

Throughout the week I would randomly hear her voice asking me that damn question, 'What do you want from me, Bakugo?' What the hell kind of stupid question was that? What had she expected me to say? Thinking of my immediate response made feel physically ill. Everything??? What in the actual fuck had made me think that? That was something a love struck idiot would have said and I didn't have time right now to be in love, let alone deal with having friends.

So after the first few days of the emo chick distancing herself with me, I was more than okay with it. I couldn't seem to get the damn memories of her out of my mind though, which was starting to piss me off, but I figured they would go away soon enough. Although even after the first few days they didn't evaporate like smoke trailing off a cigarette as I'd expected they would. It didn't help that I had to stare at the back of her head all day, a constant visual reminder of something I'd never had but somehow seemed to lose.

As irritated as I was that she seemed to be avoiding me, I didn't realize how accustomed to her presence I had become until she wasn't there. The day that she didn't show up to class I stared at the empty seat in front of me, distracted by her absence until lunch rolled around.

"Awww man, there's way too much testosterone at the table without Nakano here," Raccoon eyes whined while tape arms and pikachu argued about who would win in a fight against a bear.

"Where is Nakano today?" Kirishima asked, shoveling a pile of rice into his mouth.

"She's sick, so she stayed home," she said.

"That sucks," Sero said, joining the conversation. "Especially with mid-terms coming up next week."

"Yeah, she might have made herself sick thinking about it, I know she's been feeling really behind lately," Mina replied, her face twisting with worry.

"Hey!" Kaminari piped up. "We should put together a gift basket as a get well soon type of thing!"

Mina immediately brightened and squealed at an octave that pierced my ears. "Yeah! That's a great idea! What do we want to put in it? Hmmmmm, maybe some fruit? Juice for sure, to boost her vitamin C level!"

I winced as she excitedly rambled on about what to put in the basket and the others threw in their suggestions as well. I imagined the emo chick, cooped up in her room, piled under a thick layer of blankets, her room littered with crumpled tissues. Had she really gotten herself so stressed out that she had gotten sick? As disgusted as I was by the thought of what she might look like, I couldn't deny that I felt the pull to want to see her and make sure that she was okay.

"Oi, shitty hair!" I gestured for him to follow me as the others continued to gab on about the stupid gift basket. He looked at me quizzically before grabbing his nearly empty tray to follow after me towards the garbage can.

"What's up?" he asked.

"I need you to offer to take the gift basket to emo chick's house." I said, keeping my voice low.

"What, why? I don't know where she lives so that doesn't make sense."

He took a final swig of his water before tossing it in the garbage. I growled at him impatiently and hissed, "Damn it, because I do know where she lives and -"

At this, water burst from his lips temporarily before he clamped a hand over his mouth, choking the rest down. "What?!"

"Shut the fuck up!" I scowled at him and grabbed him by the collar, dragging him to a nearby hallway that was fairly secluded. A passerby stared temporarily before my eyes shot daggers through him and I could literally see the sweat break out on his forehead before he turned quickly and scuttled away.

"Bro, how do you know where she lives?!" Kirishima asked, his red eyes sparkling with a curiosity and pureness that made me turn away for a moment out of embarrassment.

Gritting my teeth in irritation I said, "It doesn't fucking matter. I don't need the others to make a big fucking deal about it, like you are, so just say that you're going to take it and when you get the basket just pass it off to me."

He looked thoughtful for a moment and opened his mouth as though he was going to say something but thought better of it. "I've got you man, you don't have to worry about a thing!"

I glared at his face consuming grin and turned away, scoffing. "Just text me where and when to meet you."
