Damn it! I thought, my mind beginning to race as I realized how vulnerable we were. How the hell are we supposed to get her out of here safely while also fighting off villains? Her leg is in bad shape and I don't feel confident transporting her like this.
Katsuki was already standing and he began to extend an arm as he shouted, "To hell with it, I'll just blast through these damn walls, then we can just carry her out of here!"
"Are you crazy?!" I yelled. "That's way too dangerous! The debris could fall down and get us all killed! We have to take care of her leg before we do anything!"
He looked at me then, his narrowed eyes blazing with defiance before his face twisted in anger and he turned away, suddenly scanning the ground around him. He took a few steps away, still searching for a few moments before he bent over and picked something up. As he turned around, he called a warning before tossing it down to me. I snatched the object out of the air and gazed down at the thick, sturdy looking stick, the feeling of the weathered wood beneath my fingertips bringing me back to my senses. I knew what he was thinking.
I pulled the ribbon out of my hair, a cascade of black waves falling down over my shoulders as I did and squatted beside Azure. "Check this out. Pretty, right?"
The girl's eyes shined with curiosity as she ran her fingers across the soft fabric of the ribbon.
"I'm going to let you borrow it for now. It has a bit of magic laced into it, so whenever I wear it I feel brave and strong. I need you to hold still while I fix up your leg for a second, okay? We're going to get you out of here safe and sound."
I wanted her to feel safe and relaxed so I projected this onto her like a repeated mantra running through my mind. Her charcoal gray eyes shined with excitement before the tenseness in her body began to soften as I started constructing a makeshift splint by using my ribbon to fasten the stick to her leg. Her eyelids were drooping and her head nodding slightly by the time I was finished. I looked up at Katsuki and flashed a thumbs up before I told her that I was going to help her up. I instructed her to only put her weight on her uninjured leg while I positioned myself behind her. Warning the girl that I was about to pick her up, I easily lifted her into the air, immediately surprised at how light and frail she was. There was a brief moment of worry as Katsuki stretched his arms out to take her that he would be too rough with her, but I quickly realized it was unwarranted. When I transferred her to him, his grip was firm but gentle as he lifted her up into his arms. Watching him hold her was like seeing him carry something made of glass and I looked on in awe as he put a hand to the back of her head and held her to his chest, leaning forward slightly to whisper something into her ear. Her grip around his neck tightened slightly and she squeezed her eyes shut as she burrowed her face into his chest.
"Can you make it out?" He called down to me.
I looked around at the walls of rock I was surrounded by before looking back up at him. "No better time to learn how to rock climb, right?"
He rolled his eyes and clicked his tongue before lifting a hand into the air. "Close your eyes, Y/n."
I considered questioning him but I remembered his irritation from earlier at not trusting him, so I nodded once before squeezing my eyes shut and praying that he had a good plan to get us out of here. A brilliant flash of light erupted, leaving it's white ghost in the wake of my closed eyes. I opened my eyes shortly after, blinking rapidly as I looked up to find Katsuki still standing there holding Azure.
"What was that?" I asked.
"The closest thing we have to a flare. We need someone else with a quirk that's more fitting to get her out from here. We can't go back the way we came because we won't fit through that tight spot with her and I can't blast my way up with her because that would be too dangerous. Our best bet is to get someone from above that can lift her out now that we've splinted her leg."
