Bakugo's POV

As I waited for Y/n, it was announced that the second part of the exam would be a rescue mission. A television at the front of the room showed the terrains we had just been on being obliterated with a series of explosions before an announcement indicated that we would be rated on a point system based on our ability to take care of bystanders. The screen illuminated with shots of men, women and children scattered throughout the different terrains. The announcer was blathering on about how they were paid actors but I was too busy being irritated with Deku's look of concern at the destruction that was being broadcast.

"It's not real, you damn nerd," I scoffed.

"Still," Her voice immediately drew my attention towards her as she suddenly appeared beside me. "We have to treat this like it's a real mission."

My eyes lowered to her shoulder to find that there was a thick bandage covering the skin that had been ripped open. "How are you feeling?"

"Surprisingly good!" She chirped, rotating her shoulder as though to prove it. "There was a guy whose quirk allows him to make a special healing paste. Looked gross as hell, but as soon as he slathered it on -"

Her face lit up as she seemed to relive the feeling and I immediately felt myself tense at the thought of this person laying his filthy hands on her. My eyes were searching out this supposed medical genius when she laid a hand on my shoulder.

"Why are you so tense all of a sudden? I'm seriously fine, don't worry about it."

"Tch." I hated the empty, cold feeling that replaced the warmth of her hand as she pulled it away.

"So you ready to save some people?" She seemed surprisingly excited and I wondered if she was just trying to mask her own anxiety. Before I had a chance to ask, the walls were rumbling as they separated and came apart like they had earlier as a loud buzzing sounded throughout the stadium.

"Begin!" Someone announced over the loud speaker and suddenly everyone was running.

Turbo legs was shouting something at our class, but I was already grabbing Y/n's hand and veering away from the group. I saw a flash of red and yellow behind us and rolled my eyes when I realized that it was shitty hair and pikachu.

"Stop following us, you damn extras!" I shouted over my shoulder.

"Why, so you guys can grab ass and make out in between saving people?" Dunce face retorted. "Yeah, right! Not on my watch!"

"Whatever, you're just jealous because Midoriya got to see some naked hottie," Kirishima said.

"Wait, what?! When did that happen?" Y/n looked back over her shoulder but didn't pull her hand out of mine and continued at our same pace.

"Oh my God, shut up! Who cares?!" I yelled and the three of them fell silent for a moment.

"He's probably just jealous because he hasn't quite reached that base with -"

The idiot had no volume control and when I abruptly came to a halt and whipped around, it was clear that he had thought that shitty hair was the only one who had heard him but based off of the deep red shade of Y/n's face, it was clear he had made a mistake. Anger flooded me and I began charging toward him but Kirishima and Y/n stepped in between us quickly.

"Hey!" Y/n's voice rang out, sharp and clear, as she laid her hands on my chest. Her emerald eyes seemed even more pronounced somehow compared to the crimson blush that seemed to be quickly spreading across her face. She kept one hand on my chest as she spun around, pointing a slender finger at Kaminari. "You! Stop being an idiot and provoking him!"

"But I didn't think -" He began but she quickly snapped her fingers together to silence him.

"Your whispers are like screams, Kaminari. We've talked about this before!"

I felt a swelling of pride in my chest as I watched Y/n admonish the boy, a smile tugging at my lips before she whipped back around to face me. "And you! Work on your anger issues!" I opened my mouth to say something but she only spoke louder. "If we're not going to work together as a team, then we're splitting up. This is for our provisional hero license, so get it together!"

With that, she began running ahead, leaving the three of us to stare at each other for a moment, dumbfounded into silence. I shot a glare at pikachu before quickly turning on my heel and following after her. I could hear the pounding of their feet as they trailed behind me but my focus was on her. She seemed to pick up her pace for a moment and I realized why when she came to a sudden stop.

The explosions from earlier had caused the mountainous area to break apart, leaving deep crevasses in the terrain. We stood at the edge of a cliff, looking down to find that there were a man and woman standing below. They both appeared to have minor injuries but the woman was holding her arm as if it had been immobilized by the attack.

"Help us!" They yelled in unison.

"Help yourself, idiots!" I shouted, continuing to trudge ahead.

"Katsuki!" Y/n said, looking at me in shock and perhaps a hint of disappointment as the two victims began quietly conversing. She moved closer, her voice coming out a sharp whisper as she continued. "What is your problem? You're going to fail the exam if you keep this shit up!"

Kirishima and Kaminari were already scaling down the rocks to make it to the couple as one made a comment about the inappropriate tone of my voice.

"Points deducted!" He called out and I felt the familiar burn of anger consume me as I turned to face them.

"What the hell did you -"

The flame of my anger was put out as quickly as it had erupted and I was suddenly being dragged away before I could say any more. It felt as though someone had put a lid on a boiling pot of water as my irritation was abruptly contained.

"Katsuki!" Y/n said firmly as she stopped and stared at me incredulously. "What are you doing?! I should be using my quirk to make the victims calm, not you!"

"Those idiots were barely injured. If you want to take care of them, fine, but I'm going to find someone who actually needs my help." I hated how calm I sounded. The cage that was containing my anger was beginning to rattle as she continued to stare at me like I was the idiot, not those two actor wannabes.

"Seriously?! They already deducted points from your score!" She threw her hands up and I felt the heat of my rage come back full force. "I don't have time for this. Do what you want. But I'm going to pass this exam."

Before I could respond, she was already running back. I clenched my fists, the pressure of it causing my arms to shake. It felt uncontrollable, this anger that coursed through my veins. I wanted to scream but instead I bit down hard on my tongue, the metallic taste of blood sliding down my throat before I sighed.

"Goddamn it, woman," I muttered before my feet began taking me back towards her, the way that they always seemed to.
