Bakugo's POV
"Oi, weird hair."
Kirishima turned around and waited for me to catch up before walking any further. "Oh, good morning, Bakugo! I'm surprised you're still up here, usually you beat me to breakfast."
In fact, I beat him to breakfast every morning, along with the other extras who resided on our floor of the building. Knowing that this was one of the few times during the day that I could inconspicuously talk to him alone, I'd waited around in my room until I'd heard his door click open. I bit the inside of my cheek to try to quell the irritation bubbling within me at what I was about to say.
"Yeah, so, I actually..." I fumbled a bit for my words. Goddamn it, this is stupid as hell.
"Bakugo? Everything okay?" He had stopped walking and was staring at me.
I gritted my teeth before responding. "I need your stupid advice, okay?!"
His eyes became wide and shiny, his eyebrows quirking up as he looked at me with pure joy written in his features.
Scowling at him, I snapped, "Wipe that ridiculous look off your face, or I'm going to blast your ass into a million pieces!"
He turned away for a moment, clearing his throat before turning back when he had composed himself. "Yeah, man, of course, what's up?"
Despite his neutral expression, I could tell that he was still trying to contain his excitement by the way his fingers drummed along his thigh, as though the joy at being asked for advice could not simply be contained, but was running along his arm and bursting through his fingertips as a way to stealthily escape.
I sighed in frustration, shoving my hands in my pockets and looking away as I spoke. "The exam is coming up in a few days and I know that Y/n has been working really hard and is feeling stressed out because of that but also because they still haven't found her old man yet. So since we're stuck in this shit hole of a campus, there really isn't much to do, so I'm trying to figure out something..." Embarrassed, I turned away from him completely. "Special I can do for her, I guess."
"Like a date?" Kirishima asked and I felt my face begin to flush. This is so fucking stupid!
"Yes, like a date, idiot! So what the fuck am I supposed to do when we're stuck here with nothing to do but study and train?!" I yelled.
"Hmmmmm," I heard Kirishima murmur. "Let me think about this for a second."
I stared out the window at the courtyard down below. A bird strutted across the ground like he owned the place before taking flight and disappearing into a nearby tree. I felt my irritation grow as the seconds passed and by the time I whipped around to face Kirishima I was nearly fuming.
"Well?!" I spat.
"Got it!" Kirishima said, holding up a finger in triumph as though the light bulb above his head had finally clicked on. "But we're going to need Yaoyorozu's help."
When he told me the plan, it sounded corny as hell, but I had to admit that when I thought of Y/n's reaction, it brought an oddly warm sensation to my heart, so I agreed to letting ponytail girl in on it so long as she didn't open her trap to any of the other extras. The day went by like any other and I'd told Y/n that we should study right away after school just to get it out of the way. She'd seemed a bit suspicious but hadn't really questioned it and as the day wore on I found myself getting more and more anxious about the evening to come. Finally, the time came for the surprise as I set down my pen and stretched, feigning a casual tone.
"I think that's about enough studying for one night, don't you think? You're probably getting hungry about now, huh?"
"What?" She looked up, surprised. The butt end of her pen was pressed against her bottom lip, a sign that she had been concentrating hard. "The great Katsuki Bakugo feels like we're good to go on studying? That's a first. Usually you're the one yelling at me about not studying enough."
