Bakugo's POV

Standing in the observation room, I clenched the railing in front of me so tightly my knuckles began to turn white. When that damn emo chick almost fell off the roof, I nearly lost my shit. Then that half and half bastard saved her and for once in my life I didn't feel like gouging his eyes out and feeding them to pigeons.

It was clear that she had hurt her wrist though with how she was holding it. I watched as they worked together to launch a defensive maneuver against Aizawa before beginning to run again. With her acting as his eyes and instructing him on where to shoot his ice, they were working together well as a team. For some reason, it was pissing me off.

Did she grab his hand just now? I thought, and the urge to gouge his eyes came back with intensity, but she quickly let go and as she did I felt some of the tension ease that I didn't realize I'd been carrying.

"Oh man, they're working really well together!" Deku exclaimed excitedly and I shot a glare in his direction, causing him to shut his mouth before he spewed out more unnecessary garbage.

As we looked on, they were getting closer to the exit, but Aizawa had begun to predict their movements more easily as they closed in on it. He was no longer attempting to attack from a high point, but had moved to the ground level and we'd lost sight of him on the monitors.

He suddenly jumped out from a side street, his scarf shooting out directly towards Nakano, who had been running in front of Todoroki. She dodged, toppling to the ground, and I sucked in a breath as I saw her attempt to use her injured hand to try to catch herself and break the fall. She cried out as the gray material wrapped itself around Icy Hot.

"Keep going!" He yelled and she responded immediately, wincing as she stood and began rushing away.

Aizawa was using the material of his scarf to tie Todoroki up to a lamp post and throwing something on the ground below him, but my eyes were on Nakano. She was moving so quickly despite the incredible pain she must be in after the fall she had taken earlier. Her chest was heaving and her arms were swinging wildly. The look in her eyes was that of fierce determination and I found myself enthralled with her in that moment. She wasn't looking back and when she should have been tired and slowing down, her pace only seemed to increase as she got within a few blocks of the exit.

I really thought she was in the clear. She was so close to the target and she was moving so fast. But Aizawa was faster. He was beginning to close the distance between them and when she was within a block of the target she snuck a glance over her shoulder just as he started to shoot his scarf forward.

A series of events happened then as she got closer and closer to the exit that were both confusing and terrifying. As she surged forward, she closed her eyes and Aizawa's scarf continued to close in on her. 30 feet away. Aizawa seemed to falter for a moment as he slowed but his scarf continued to move forward at the same pace. 20 feet away. Nakano leaped into the air as though she was attempting to win in a long jump competition. The scarf flew underneath her and began retracting as Aizawa fell to his knees, putting his head in his hands. 10 feet away. Nakano curled into a ball and shifted her body while in the air so that when she landed she began rolling. Rolling, rolling, BUZZZZZ.

The sound reverberated throughout the tiny room we stood in as she crossed the exit line.

"She did it!" Pink cheeks squealed.

My eyes were glued to the screen where she lay motionless and I felt my chest tighten.

Why the fuck isn't she moving? I thought, a foreign sense of panic beginning to settle over me like a fog.

She was still curled up tightly into a ball but after a few moments her body loosened up and she rolled onto her back, clutching at her chest while her breath came out labored. I noticed how tightly I was gripping the railing in front of me again and I relaxed, feeling the tension in my hand remain even after I let go.

"Well, are you going to go help her or what?! She's clearly not doing well!" I shouted at the little old lady watching the monitors. "Aren't you the school nurse or some shit?!"

Recovery Girl smiled in my direction and irritation surged through me. "Very observant of you, young man. Just so you know, the nurses office is in section A - the lower level."

"Why the hell would I need to know that? It's not like I'm going to need it after I take my exam!" I snapped, intentionally aiming another glare in the damn nerd's direction and he quickly averted his eyes nervously.

"Oh, no reason," The old lady said in a sing song voice before exiting the room.

I should really start preparing for my own exam, but... I looked at the screen again and Nakano hadn't moved from where she lay on the ground. Her face was twisted in pain and I knew in that moment that she had successfully used her quirk against Aizawa. Not only did she use her quirk but she had carelessly been tossing her body around like a sack of garbage during her exam. She must be in a lot of pain.

"Fuck!" I spat before storming out of the room to make my way to the lower level of section A.
