I waited until class was over so that I could try to seize the right moment to talk to Bakugo. I worried that in a larger group he would blow me off, but I thought maybe if I could catch him while he was alone he would be more willing to hear out what I had to say. When I heard Kirishima ask him if he wanted to come over to Sero's house with a few of their classmates to hang out, I worried for a moment that my plan was going to fall apart. I shouldn't have been surprised though when Bakugo quickly declined the offer.

Most of the class seemed to be moving slowly, talking among each other in small groups as they packed up their bags, but Bakugo was already headed towards the door. I quickly exited the classroom as well and began to feel my heart beating rapidly as I trailed him from a bit of a distance.

What the hell are you doing? I thought. This boy is fucking crazy. He clearly doesn't want anything to do with you. He's obviously going to reject you. You should turn around now, abandon this stupid mission. He's going to look at you like you're crazy.

My mind was racing as I pushed through the doors. The weather outside was gorgeous and I reveled in the feeling of the warm sun on my skin. I stopped for a moment to take a deep breath of the fresh spring air before surging forward again, pushing all my doubts to the side.

"Bakugo!" I called, jogging a bit to catch up with him.

He didn't break stride. It was as though he hadn't heard me. When I finally fell in step beside him I realized that he had his earbuds in again. I reached out to touch his arm but before I made contact he flinched away.

"You again?" His tone was harsh as he popped out one of his earbuds. "What, are you stalking me now?"

I laughed nervously and it came out sounding too loud and obnoxious. I ignored the burning sensation I felt on my face as I quickly said, "No, of course not! Look, can we talk for a minute?"

"What the hell do you think we're doing now?" he said flatly.

Okay, clearly he's not going to stop to have a leisurely chat. Just go with the flow.

"I'm sorry about earlier. I didn't mean to antagonize you before class started this morning. Okay?" I had been facing forward as I spoke but when he didn't respond I turned toward him.

His face was neutral and he continued to look ahead as we walked. This was the first time that I had been so close to him without him yelling or glaring at me. My eyes were drawn to his lips, which I noticed were slightly down turned in a way that almost seemed like a pout.

"Is that all?" he said, sounding bored, and he was already lifting his hand to re-insert his earbud.

I was hit with a sudden flash of anger and without thinking through my actions, I slapped the earbud out of his hand. "Would you stop doing that?!"

He was fuming as he stopped and turned to face me. "Touch me again, emo chick. See what happens." His words were a threat and I threw my hands up in exasperation.

"Really?! Is it the same thing with you every time? Get angry and fight or threaten or scream? Don't you get sick of doing the same thing over and over again? You know, it's hella predictable and it makes me want to slap the shit out of you, I'm not gonna lie."

I saw a flash of shock cross his face before he quickly tried to cover it up with anger. "Fuck you!"

He was already walking away before I had a chance to respond. I ran my hands through my hair before gripping fistfuls of it out of frustration. I wanted to scream and I felt crazy, wondering what the hell I was doing and why I thought this had been a good idea.
