Kenny liked to come here when his parents fought to get away from the noise.  The quiet made a nice change from screaming and shouting and the thick smell of alcohol that constantly soaked his living room.  He shut his eyes and listened to the birds, alone with his thoughts, letting his mind drift to things that made him happy; Karen, flowers, Butters. He smiled when the image of the small boy flooded his brain. Almost as if on cue, his phone vibrated, snapping him out of his trance as he frowned. Who would be calling him right now? Unless... Kenny quickly pulled his phone from his pocket, grinning widely when a picture of Butters with frosting on his nose filled the screen. He had taken the photo on Karens birthday when he had invited Leo over to help him bake her the perfect cake. In the end, there had ended up being more ingredients on the giggling boys than in the cake, but Karen had been happy with it so Kenny had counted it as a success. The picture disappeared and the vibrating stopped, causing Kenny to facepalm. He had been grinning at the contact image for so long that he had forgotten to answer the call, accidentally sending Leo to voicemail. ' ONE NEW VOICEMAIL ' Popped up on the screen and Kenny opened it as fast as he could. " Heya Ken! I just wanted to see how you were, I know we only saw each other a few hours ago but uh.. this is silly I know but... Are you free? Well, clearly not because this went to voicemail, heh , I'm sorry, call me back when you get this?" Butters voice stuttered through the phone, the mere noise warming Kenny's heart. He quickly dialled in his number, hoping that he was not too late to talk to his second favourite person in the world, after his sister of course. Kenny smiled when Butters picked up the phone. " KEN!" He excitedly squealed and Kenny could practically hear the smile on his face. " Hey Buttercup, how are you?" He replied happily. " Better now I'm speaking to you!" Butters beamed innocently, unaware of the flip he had just made Kenny's heart do. Kenny blushed, scratching the back of his neck and leaning on the fence in front of the log cabin. " OH YEA! I just remembered why I called! Do you wanna hang out? I'm trying to make the most out of not being grounded and there's no one I'd rather spend my day with than you!" Leo chirped honestly. Butters was painfully oblivious to how flirtatious he sounded, or maybe Kenny was just taking everything he said the wrong way. Oh god what if Butters was straig- " Uh.. Ken.. you still there?" Butters asked, snapping Kenny out of it. " Oh uh, yea sorry Leo, you said you wanted to hang out?" Kenny asked, embarrassed that he was letting someone actually make him doubt himself. He was Kenny McCormick, he could get anyone he wanted. He just really, really liked Leo and was trying so hard to not mess everything up. Butters was one of the few good things in his life right now and he was determined to keep him in it. " Yea but Its totally okay if yo-" " I'd really actually like to hang out with you right now Butterfly" Kenny interrupted excitedly. " Oh uh.. really?" Butters said through the phone, his voice quiet and shy. " Of course Leo, you know how much I love y- spending time with you" Kenny corrected himself. " Sorry I'm still not used to anyone actually being friends with me" Butters admitted nervously. " Well you'd better get used to it quickly because I'm not going anywhere" Kenny reassured him, making a warm feeling pool in his chest.  " So where do you wanna meet?" Leo asked happily. Kenny suddenly froze when he remembered where he was. This was his sanctuary, the only place that was safe from the outside world. The only person who knew about this place was Karen, since he sometimes took her with him, however today she was at a sleepover with Craig's sister. He smiled. " I've actually got a place I want to show you, I'll meet you at your house" Kenny grinned, excited to bring Leo to his secret oasis. Kenny finally arrived at Leo's door, panting heavily as sweat dripped from his forehead. He rang the doorbell before bending over as he tried to regain his breath. " I'LL GET IT!" An excited voice sounded from inside. The door opened to reveal a grinning Butters, dressed in clothes that he knew Kenny particularly liked. " Aw geez Ken, did you run here? Come sit down you idiot. " Butters giggled, dragging Kenny onto his sofa and going off to get him a glass of water. " Im.. fine Lee" Kenny panted, gratefully smiling when Butters handed him the drink, which he chugged. " I'm not gonna lie that I'm happy that you got here so fast, but I don't want you passing out Ken,  why did you run?" Butters asked kindly. " I was just excited to see yo- Hold on is this a Disney princess glass?" Kenny smirked, giggling at the blush that appeared across Butters cheeks. " I uh... Maybe" Leo admitted. " She's my second favourite princess" He grinned. "Oh? Who's your first?" Kenny smirked, already knowing the answer. " Princess Kenny of course!" Leo beamed, showing his dimples and holding his arms out for Kenny to hug him. Kenny smiled widely, gladly accepting Leo's offer and scooping him into a warm hug. " So, what do you want to show me?" Butters asked when they finally separated.  " You'll see" Kenny chimed, showing all of his admittedly crooked teeth in a smile that made his eyes and nose crinkle adorably.  Butters didn't know what it was about Kenny, but his smiles always made Leo's legs turn to jelly and his heart skip a beat.  " Well come on then!" Kenny said, jumping up excitedly and grabbing Leo's hand, pulling him with him. He was excited to show him the place that he loved so much. As they walked down the street, Kenny began to bite his lip nervously. He didn't know why but this felt like a big deal to him. " Hey Ken? You okay?" Butters asked curiously, squeezing his hand comfortingly. " Huh? Oh yea sorry. I just.. I've kind of only ever showed this place to one other person. I don't know... Just feels like I'm proposing to you or something" Kenny laughed nervously, not noticing how darkly Leo blushed at the word propose. " Now I know it doesn't look like much, but this place means a lot to me, I come here to be alone, It's a kind of safe place for me I guess. Somewhere where my problems can't find me. I guess that sounds kinda dumb." Kenny said nervously as they began approaching the abandoned log cabin. " It doesn't sound dumb Ken." Leo said calmly, looking up at his friend. " Sounds kinda poetic actually. I wish I had a place to get away from my problems." He admitted as they walked closer to the cabin. " Well uh.. maybe this can be our place to hide.. I mean.. if you want" Kenny offered nervously. " You mean it? But this is your special place" Butters asked considerably. " I mean, coming here makes me happy, and I want to share that with you." Kenny said honestly. Leo's eyes widened in happiness, until Kenny watched a thought flash in them, making his face change into one of confusion. " But, why me?" Leo asked in a soft, vulnerable tone. " Because you are one of my favorite people in the world Buttercup. You make my days so much brighter. You're the kindest and sweetest person I know and I love you more than you know" Kenny said, not paying attention to what he was saying. " Really?" Butters words brought Kenny back to the real world. " Oh god did I say that out loud? Sorry, I usually just say what I think when I'm here and.. Oh god uh," Kenny stuttered. " Well uh, I think you're pretty amazing too Kenny" Butters smiled, before stepping up onto the deck of the log cabin. The pair leaned on the fence, looking out at the forest. " You're right Ken, it is beautiful out here." Butters smiled. Kenny turned to look at his friend. He watched the way that the wind blew his blonde hair around his face like a halo, and the way the sunlight made his ocean blue eyes sparkle. " It really is" Kenny sighed contentedly.
