An insider on the band CODA's team has given out an anonymous statement that the relationship between lead singer Carter Heart and 5 Seconds of Summer's Calum Hood has been fake since day one.
The couple (pictured above), have supposedly been dating for somewhere between three and five months. Having met after Hood's bandmate Luke Hemmings showed him CODA's YouTube channel.
The couple was first spotted publicly at a Nine Inch Nail's concert at the end of January, followed by a dinner date in February, and multiple interactions on social media. A public confirmation of the relationship came from Heart in an interview in March. Since then the couple has been spotted multiple times out in public, sometimes even seen sharing intimate moments for everyone to document.
Heart's band is freshly signed by Hollywood Records, and currently the opening act for Hood's band on their No Shame Tour. The bands playing their 16th show together tonight in Berlin, Germany. 5 Seconds Of Summer's set list includes a love song the couple is credited with writing together this past spring, that is performed by both bands.
It isn't hard to believe a relationship was concocted to drive interest in Heart's band, knowing that Hood's fans would look to find information about her if she was dating him. It also draws media attention to the tour the bands are currently sharing.
Our anonymous source has disclosed that the relationship is not all fake, Heart and Hood are friends. But once fans picked up on the idea that they should be a couple the publicity stunt relationship was brought up, and both parties agreed eagerly to drive sales and attention for their bands.
Recently the contract to continue dating publicly through the end of their time on tour together has been nullified due to undisclosed issues within the agreement. With the contract out of the picture both parties no longer have the responsibility to show a relationship with each other. Meaning Calum Hood is officially back on the market ladies. And Carter Heart is also back on the market for you gentlemen.
"What the fuck?" Calum glances over the article again, barely believing it is real.
"There's about ten others similar online too. Twitter's having a fucking heyday, the shit your fans are tweeting about knowing it was fake, about how they could tell you weren't really happy. It's a mess. The hate is piling up. It's coming across to fans that I forced you into this and it's all my fault, my way of clout chasing? Riding your tailcoat into the spotlight? Um, what else did they say exactly."
