***TW// EXCESSIVE USE OF THE REALLY BAD D WORD***

"'They were in on the plot!' Salvus yelled," Billie translated from the Latin book.

"Hey, dyke, it's not in past tense form," someone, Ethan, yelled from the other side of the room. Billie felt hurt by that word. He wasn't out at school, but he did wear a flannel shirt almost every day. So, everyone assumed he was a lesbian. Although, he didn't mind not being perceived as a butch lesbian, he was in a somewhat homophobic school. Anyone who wasn't homophobic was gay or a really big ally of the community.

He didn't want to come out at school. He was scared of what people would say if they all knew he was transgender. He wanted the bell to ring already, just to get to orchestra. Thankfully, the bell rang and he rushed out of the room.

It was 4th period and Billie was by his best friend, Mike. He was hoping no one besides Mike would talk to him.

"Ayo! I forgot dyke was in this class," Ethan yelled out from the front.

"Hey! Why are you calling her a dyke? How do you know she's lesbian? What if she just likes to dress like this, but still likes dudes?" Mike called back. Billie frowned at the 'she/her' pronouns. He decided to just not talk for the rest of the day.

4th ended without anyone else calling Billie any sort of names. He made his way down to the theater, nearly being late. He slouched in his seat and didn't talk to anyone. He had only one person in this class he considered a true friend, Tré. The teacher dismissed everyone to the shop.

Billie worked on the group flat, only grabbing the nails for Tré to hammer them in. He didn't feel like hammering stuff today. Tré seemed to notice something was off.

"Are you gonna be quiet today?" he asked Billie. Billie just shrugged and went to grab more nails. After they finished the group flat, they were supposed to build individual flats. Tré and Billie went out back to the main area to grab paper for the cut lists.

"Hey, what's wrong? You're not even sassing Bryan today," Tré said, Billie sighed and just tried to get away from the conversation. Tré pulled his arm and pulled Billie back.

"Tell me what's up, okay?"

"People are shitheads, okay? Okay. Bye," Billie said, rushing back to the shop.

It was after school and Billie went to a short club meeting before going home in the rain. Halfway home, his umbrella broke, causing him to be completely soaked when he got home. All he wanted to do was lay in bed and forget all of today. He cooked some food then went to his room to avoid anyone in his family talking to him.
