I hastily grabbed my belongings and sprinted back to Heights Alliance, digging my fingernails into my palms in a weak attempt to stop them from violently shaking.

I blindly crashed into the front doors of Heights Alliance, not even taking the courtesy to throw my shoes into the living room before flying up the stairs three at a time. I chucked my bag into the wall in my room as I started hyperventilating.

Ghost, he's - he's going to kill her! He's - he's going to kill me! What the fuck, the fuck, THE FUCK do I do?!

My thoughts raced in circles in my mind; I couldn't gather them up enough to create a plan.

From the shock and the fear and the overwhelming, inevitable doom before me, I felt my throat constrict as I heaved for air, falling to my knees, unable to stop tears of frustration from escaping, dotting my clothes.

I couldn't see any good outcome, no matter what happened.

Get up! You can't be late!

Quaking, I slowly stood up on unstable legs, swaying side to side, the room spinning. The blood rushing in my head didn't do me any favors, thudding in my ears. I leaned against my bed, trying to swallow the bile building up in the back of my throat.

At this rate - !

I violently shook my head, before clenching my hands into fists. I found the strength to change into something that wasn't sweaty and was easy to move around in. Then, I burst into the hallway, carelessly wiping the tears stained on my face.

Until I crashed into someone, falling on my butt.

"(Y/N)! What's wrong!?"

It's - It's. . . Of course he's here - !

He crouched by my side, hugging me tight without a second thought.

"Who did this?"

His voice was laced with malice and determination.

I was a sobbing mess, panting for air, trying to push him away so I could get there in time to save her. "Sh- Sho. . . Ghost! . . W-With - " I spoke between hiccups, unable to even form a basic sentence.

"Hey, hey," He softened. "Just breath. It's okay."

I shook my head. "No!" I shrieked. My sudden burst of energy made Shoto release me as I stood up, only to stumble forward, barely catching myself.

I feel like I'm having a heart attack. . .

Shoto instantly grabbed my arms, trying to look at me directly in the eyes. "(Y/N), what's wrong?" He asked. "What happened?"

If it was anyone but Shoto, I wouldn't be able to listen and take three deep, shaky breaths.

Still I sobbed, my lower lip quivering. "G-Ghost wants me to go to him. . ."

"He contacted you?" Shoto questioned. I nodded. "You don't have to listen."

I closed my eyes tight, shaking my head. "N-No. . . you d-don't understand. . ."

"Then tell me, (Y/N)." One of his hands gently lifted my chin up so he could see my face, even as I kept my eyes towards the ground. I can't face him. . .

"(Y/N), please." His voice was quiet, fragile, as if it were about to break. "I can't stand to see you like this, so please. . . tell me what's going on."

The angry, urgent panic I felt a few moments ago faded as my entire body went limp, my cries softening to a whimper. Shoto caught me and held me to him on the ground as I feebly clung to his clothes. He pulled me close, his warm hand holding mine as I grabbed a fist full of his shirt. Shoto let me breath for a few moments, just squeezing me, letting me know that he's worried and that he's there for me.
