You have no idea how grateful and relieved I am that I don't have to do this alone.
I could almost feel a tingling buzz in the back of my head as we passed the swinging front door, Ghost digging his fingers into my arm as he dragged me up a staircase and into a bedroom. He flung me into the room, causing me to stumble forward, almost colliding with the floor. Somehow, I managed to stay on my feet.
Shoto pushed passed Ghost, who was standing in the doorway, wrapped his arms tight around me. He couldn't talk still, and I could see the frustration building from his helplessness.
"Could you imagine Endeavor seeing this? His precious masterpiece rendered useless?!" Ghost mocked, stepping completely into the room.
"Fuck off." I muttered, brushing Shoto away so I could stand tall. He flashed me a concerned look.
"I'd be a bit nicer, (Y/N). You have no idea what I'm capable of."
I clamped my teeth together, trying to keep my bubbling emotions at bay.
"Just shut it, would you? You're immature and psychotic and you just don't get it."
He inhaled slowly. "What are you saying?"
I kept my voice strong, unwavering. "I don't want to be with you. You're a villain who has hurt me too much. I don't care what you say - it doesn't matter."
He raised an eyebrow in amusement. Amusement? "What if I still let you hang out with this bastard behind you?"
I closed my fists tight, my resolve beginning to crack at the seams. "He has nothing to do with this!"
My father merely smirked. "Then hear me out completely, (Y/N).
"Join me. I'll give you all of your memories back, even the ones I stole with that Endeavor bitch." He gestured to Shoto who stayed by my side, observing and waiting. "I know how much you want parents, and a family. Well I'm right here."
I clenched my jaw. "You're no family of mine."
"I beg to differ. No one can survive without a family to support them. Including Todoroki. Including you."
"I said not to bring him into this! And I've done just fine without a family." I growled.
Ghost scoffed, amused. "I believe you had the Kaminari's, even if you did reject them, as I had hoped."
My throat closed up at the mention of Denki's name, my fingernails painfully digging into my palms.
"Someone who's never had a family desires a family. Some settle for replacements to take the role of their family. I knew you wouldn't have done this. Even if you didn't remember, you knew you had real parents somewhere, even if you believed they were dead. You would isolate yourself, since you believed that if you were close with the Kaminari's, you would be betraying your parents. You feel guilty for not being able to remember them, and even more guilty at the thought of replacing them.
"You'd grow up in solitude, yearning for the truth. You'd grow strong and independent, until one day, when your perseverance finally gives out, and you can't bear the guilt you burdened yourself with, unable to share it with anyone since there's no one there."
By this point, my blood was boiling, my fists shaking in rage. My breathing was more of a hissing sound than anything else.
And Shoto found his moment, glaring at Ghost with a fiery anger unlike any I've seen or heard of before.
