Chapter 8 - Into the Rabbit Hole

Today was already off in both the good and bad way, but now David has to worry about what exactly made Louis fall in a theater. David knew one thing for sure, it couldn't have been sweat that made Louis fall. David enters the main theater and sees Legosi and the goat student next to a fallen Louis. He runs down the stairs and urgently exclaims

"Louis! What happened?!" Louis was being picked up by Legosi at the time, he was mildly surprised to see David, the goat student answers David's question though

"Louis fell while helping me with my stage acting. It was all going well, but it was so dark, I couldn't see my footing, and I fell off the stage. Louis caught me, but I accidentally fell on top of him and..." Louis finishes the goat student's sentence after feeling annoyed of being reminded what he had done

"My foot is only sprained! It will be fine tomorrow!" Louis stands up straight on one leg as Legosi holds him up from falling over

"I believe we used up enough time here already." Louis looks at Legosi with appreciative eyes

"Thank you for keeping an eye out, Legosi. We had no problems, right?" Louis looks at David and then back at Legosi "Besides David making a surprise appearance."

Legosi looked nervous for a second and then wipes his right hand on his pants, but then he looks at David with eyes hoping David doesn't confess what Legosi has done with Haru. David meets eyes with Legosi and understands what he's wanting. David is silent and a Legosi answers Louis's question

"There was nothing." David and Legosi walk Louis to his dorm and then walk back to their dorm while also trying not to get caught by security. Legosi looks down at the ground while walking and David feels as though he should break the silence, he says

"So... feral instincts, eh?" Legosi darts his eyes at David and then back at the ground when he replies

"Yeah, uh... I guess I haven't been completely honest. I've been struggling with this affliction for my whole life..." David looks over at Legosi with understanding eyes, for he too also has secrets. David puts his hand on Legosi's shoulder and says

"Whatever secrets you still have, Legosi, I will not judge you for it." Legosi looks over at David with a puzzled look

"Why is that? You just saw me almost eat a small rabbit." David looks more confident in his face and tone when he says

"Because I believe you're more than a psychotic carnivore. You heard me state it earlier, you're better than that." Legosi's eyebrows raised from the appreciation he was receiving. He didn't know what to say at first, so he just said

"Thank you, David. That's really nice of you to say." Legosi gave David a half smile, but he fears his inner demons will give him trouble. Both David and Legosi made it back to their dorm with no trouble, but when Legosi went to the bathroom, he looked at his reflection. His feral self stares at himself back and Legosi punches the mirror. After having done that, he decides to just go to bed.

The next morning, Legosi wasn't waking up so easily, it had to be Collot to wake him up. By the time Legosi was taken out of bed, both Jack and David were ready. Legosi had a look on his face as if he has been through hell in a dream. Jack leaned over and whispered to David

"Do you think something is off with Legosi today?" David has a concerned look when he looks at Legosi and says

"Yeah, this isn't his everyday attitude. Don't worry, I'll talk to him later today." Jack nods and smiles to show he's thankful. Eventually, the roommates arrive at breakfast, and Miguno reads the menu for his friends

"Let's see... today we're having milk, eggs, and soy patty!" Miguno was excited to see that soy patty was on the menu again and so were the other roommates. They get their food and sit down at a table together. David observed Legosi and grew concerned when he was seeing that Legosi didn't eat much of his food.
