The next day after David returned to Cherryton, he was watching the news in the recreation center, and a newscaster was giving a story about a herbivore that was eaten in the city, the reporter said

"This Morning in Zebuth town on Igni street, a Thomson's Gazelle by the name of Rinna was found murdered on the sidewalk. With the bite wounds on her throat, it was suspected she was killed by a group of carnivores. The suspected group of carnivores are currently on the run with the police. According to witnesses, there were four carnivores that consisted of two gray wolves and two coyote, and the carnivores deliberately cornered Rinna before her. A canine's sociability and unity... those traits alone are worthy of envy from other species. But those traits can cause great grief when used in a atrocious manner." David didn't know why, but he thought of Legosi and thinking of him caused him to instinctively get up from the table he was sitting at and turn off the TV. At the table, Legosi and Jack were playing chess against two herbivores as Durham watched. One of the herbivore students says

"Zebuth city, huh? That's close by." David sits back down at the table as the other herbivore student says

"Yeah, and another death." Jack looks at Legosi when he says

"Yeah, seriously. There's always freaky accidents happening in the outside world." Legosi nods in agreement. Then one of the herbivore stands up and pushes his chair in as he says

"Yup, and that ain't good. I'm going back to my dorm." Then the other herbivore student does the same and says

"You guys win, okay?" Jack looks up to them surprised and says

"What?!" David and Legosi both look at the chess board, who weren't as disappointed as Jack, and Legosi says in a bored tone

"We were actually about to lose." David looks over at the herbivores as they walk away and he thinks to himself

"Are they just skeptical of Legosi, Jack, and Durham? It seems kinda odd how they would walk away from a win, and it's especially weird how they were just being friendly to them until the news came on." David then went to help his friends put away the chess game. After that, he walked with them on the way back to the dorm, David and Legosi both had to get ready for Drama club. As they were walking, a male kangaroo student glared at the canines, which made Durham say in a aggressive tone

"What are you looking at?" Then Durham barked at the student until he was far enough away. Jack looks back at Durham and gives an unamused look at him as he says

"Stop it, Durham." David looks at his canine friends and says

"You know, I'm surprised you guys aren't really worried about this. At least from what I can remember, I never seen you guys worry from something like this." Jack was the first to answer David as he shrugs

"We're pretty much used to it. One minute, they're glaring at us from something that happened outside of the school, the next: we're back to normal." David raises an eyebrow from curiosity and says

"It's never taken too far?" The three think on it, but Legosi answers first

"Not really. Maybe some minor bullying, but personally, I've never been treated harshly." David puts his hand on his chin, but then notices that Legosi didn't have his backpack on and says

"Hey, Legosi. Didn't you bring your backpack with you?" Legosi feels his shoulder and his face looks mildly surprised from the realization as he says

"Oh, shoot, you're right." David chuckles and says

"Don't worry, I can go get it for you and meet you back at the dorm in time to get ready for the club meeting." Legosi grew nervous a bit and said

"Are you sure? You shouldn't have to get something that's mine." David shrugs and says
