Chapter 16 - Beyond the Gate

David could not believe his eyes, the city was bigger than he thought, it looked very much different to him than from the school. He and the other carnivore members of the drama club have already finished the meeting with the planners for the meteor festival, but decided to explore the city some more instead of going back to school, however only Legosi didn't realize that at the moment. The group has just exited the subway and Legosi just realized he was spending time in the city, he asked

"Hey, if we're already done with the meeting, why did we go on the wrong bus?" The carnivore group looks back at Legosi with a dumb look on their faces, but David only raises an eyebrow. As they walk, Bill asks

"Did you follow us without even knowing that? We've got the chance to go to the city center, so we have to take it." Legosi was still confused on how he could not realize where he was going. David looks around some more after chuckling from Legosi's unawareness, he sees faces he hasn't seen in a long time. David didn't know anyone he saw, but he knew the faces they made were familiar, they read disgust, worry, and suspicion. Legosi looks over at David to check on him, but sees his eyes are preoccupied at the judging looks given by the passing citizens, he asks David

"Er, are you feeling ok, David?" Hearing Legosi say his name caused David to snap out of the many staring contests he was having and look over at his wolf friend to say

"Huh? Oh, yeah, I'm fine. Just never been here in the city before." Legosi and David continue to walk and talk as Legosi nods in understanding

"Same here, I haven't been here for about a year and quite a lot has changed." David looks over at a lion cross guard helping a few herbivores cross the street, he continues to watch as he still talks to Legosi

"You know, it's pretty peaceful here, even for two different eating groups where one eats the other." Legosi looked up at the buildings and thought about David's comment. The thought of living in the city wasn't what caused him to wag his tail, but living with David that isn't the dorm. Of course, David notices Legosi's tail wagging and says "You seem pretty eager to be here, despite the fact you don't visit the city a lot." Legosi snaps out of his thoughts after thinking David made a cunning observation, he asks

"Huh? How can you tell?" David closes his eyes and gives a bright smile in Legosi's general direction as he says

"Your tail is wagging." Legosi's ears perk up in surprise and soon after David walks past him, he thinks to himself

"I need to find pants that can hide my tail..." Later on, the group finds a restaurant they can all eat at that allows carnivores and herbivores to be in the same room. The tables there only had 4 chairs per table, so the group borrowed 2 more chairs from other tables that weren't being used. The group of six ordered their meals and sat down after paying. Legosi felt like sitting across David, due to the fact they would make eye contact more often, however the group's eyes were mainly focused on Bill as he talked about sex.

"So then she goes, 'your sex is too one sided. I just can't get into it,' and some other shit and then she ran away crying. Bad part is: this was during sex." Aoba shrugs and tells Bill

"Well, maybe she's right, maybe you should talk to her about it." David was lost, he had no idea what Bill and Aoba were talking about. David knew he couldn't talk to Bill about what sex is without getting a hard time. David looks over at Legosi and gets an idea. He gets out his new government issued phone, apparently he needed a phone that had a gps in it so his location could be tracked, but David didn't mind, he still has his old one. David texts Legosi
