Chapter 21- Wrapping Up at The Festival

David sat up on the bed in the clinic as his side was getting stitched from the stab wound and bandaged any other scratches he was given by the former boss of the Shishigumi. It was painful, but David endured it the best he could. Even Legosi was getting stitched, only he looked like he was having a much harder time dealing with the pain. The small mammal nurse made a comment about the wound

"These wounds are quite deep. If you boys came in any later, they might've gotten infected." David chuckles before saying

"Yeah, it's not the broken bones I have to worry about." The nurse gave David no amusement from his joke, but she understood there were more important things than an infected cut. The carnivore dorm housemother was giving here to talk to David and Legosi about the two of them sneaking out to save Haru, she says

"And if you were here 30 minutes later, you both would have to worry about the instructors." Legosi perked up his ears in surprise, figuring the housemother would've already told someone about their night out

"Huh? You still haven't told anyone?" The housemother still held her uncaring expression when explaining herself to David and Legosi, she said

"I didn't do it for you both. A wolf, a rabbit, and a rare ape missing curfew together and all three of them come back with injuries! That would be scandalous, especially with our rare student getting hurt..." David felt annoyed by the fact the school is worried about their reputation when it comes to who's injured.

"I shouldn't be placed on a higher priority than others just for reputation." Said David. The housemother felt annoyed by David's comment.

"It's not up to me..." The housemother could care less about David's safety if he was any other race than human, but she couldn't say anything rude unless she didn't care for her reputation. She then leaves the room just around the same time the nurses are done patching up David and Legosi. When the housemother was gone, David looked to his left and on the other side of the room to see Haru laying in bed, reading a book, and wearing her school uniform and presumably a patch covering her grazed wound. Legosi sees David looking over at her and says to him

"Do you still stand by what you said?" David looks back at Legosi to answer him with a curious look

"Hm? About protecting my friends? Of course I do." This answer bothers Legosi, especially after what they've been through last night. David notices the look being given and asks "Why? Something wrong?" Legosi looks away to think about his answer, then when he's ready, he says

"If you're going as far as taking beatings, gashes, bites, and stabs to protect a friend..." Legosi looks back to David when asking "Then who's going to protect you?" David was surprised by Legosi's question, he didn't think Legosi would have a problem with his code, even after not bringing it up last night. David was going to say something, but then from David's right, Juno made her presence known with a small cough. David looks over to Juno and she appeared to have her tail wagging, she says

"Hi, David. How are you feeling?" Once more, David was surprised, this time about Juno.

"Oh, hey, Juno. I'm feeling better, all things considering." Now after learning love, he knows all the telltale signs of wolves showing affection, so after all this time spent with Juno and remembering what they've done together, he had a feeling Juno had feelings for him. This worried him, especially after confessing to Legosi. However, he wasn't going to harshly shut her down

"What brings you here? I hope I didn't throw you off focus for your performance tonight." Juno swayed her body in David's presence, feeling and showing how happy she is to see David safe.

"Oh, not at all! I knew you'd be back!" David raises an eyebrow out of curiosity

"You did?" Juno nods and keeps giving David her positive attention
