Chapter 20 - The Boss

Meanwhile, before the two students and their panda guide arrive at the Shishigumi headquarters, Louis stands underneath a tent as it rains. He holds and massages his neck, it felt sore after his confrontation with David. Not only that, Louis feels like his relationship with David was sore, but he wasn't sure if it was worse than that or not. Suddenly, Juno walked up next to Louis and spoke quietly to him

"Louis... you're thinking about David, aren't you?" Louis was surprised as he snapped out of his thoughts and said to Juno

"What?! What makes you say that?" Juno has a sure look in her eye when she answers

"If you think I'm clueless, you are sorely mistaken. I saw him choking you and heard what he yelled. I was real shocked to see that side of him... do you know where he is?" Louis looks away and down at the ground, his thoughts still run with what happened. When he felt ready to talk a couple seconds after Juno spoke, he said

"I... don't think he's coming back." Juno had a confused look on her face, she wasn't sure if Louis was joking or not.

"Huh? W-what are you saying? This doesn't feel like a good time to joke..." When doubted, Louis felt annoyed and exclaimed

"I'm not!" Seeing as Louis was serious, Juno became slightly worried, for both David and Louis. There was a moment of silence until Juno spoke once more

"Do you know why David would go out of his way for that bunny? Even bringing one of his friends along?" Louis wasn't sure how to answer, Legosi would obviously go anywhere with David, but he felt bothered as to why he couldn't. He spoke to the mayor, a lion and secret member of the Shishigumi, and he was told to stay out of the business of the Shishigumi if he wanted to be Beastar. David was right for Louis's motive on refusal, but being pointed out for it made Louis feel like scum, another lowlife. Once out of that thought, Louis spoke to Juno to answer her

"I don't know. I'm sorry, Juno... I couldn't do anything. He and Legosi might not be the only ones to die, but probably even more animals."

Back to David, Legosi, and Gouhin, the three have arrived to the Shishigumi base. It was as the lion member David interrogated, corpses hung on the gates. David felt shocked on how the lion was telling the truth, he didn't want to believe a violent group such as these lions would do this and get away with it. While David was looking around, Gouhin looked back at Legosi and noticed the rain has made his fur wet and droopy, so he said to him

"Hey, this is the place. You'll want to fix your face, you don't want to just walk in blind." Legosi nods and fixes the fur on his face back. The three then got next to a wall just before heading up the last set of stairs to plan. Gouhin spoke first

"Ok, so here's what we know: there are guards patrolling around just up these stairs, they probably aren't traveling close, so we could probably sneak right by. There are definitely guards inside, I'll guess around 35." Legosi nods as he listens, but David couldn't stop staring at the building, he was feeling impatient. Gouhin notices and pulls David away from the top of the wall "Did you even hear what I said?!" David looked surprised to see Gouhin get annoyed

"Oh! Er, no. I mean, yeah!" Gouhin, despite having eyes not easy to see, gave David a doubtful look, but decided not to give David a hard time about it, so he let him go and said

"Ok, whatever. Just focus for the plan." Legosi butted in when he felt worried about Haru

"Gouhin, shouldn't we hurry? We don't know what they could be doing to Haru up there." Gouhin focuses his attention to Legosi to say

"Hm? Oh, yeah, but one thing first." Legosi tilted his head in curiosity before Gouhin continued "You, Legosi, are going to have to use your bite." Legosi was surprised and spoke so
