Peter was seven when he lost his eyesight. The 'accident' happened on the night of his seventh birthday, actually. And I say 'accident' because it wasn't really. The men who took his sight were intending to take his life that night. The thing, or rather, person, that stopped them? Tony Stark.

After that night, Tony became a constant in Peter's life. He was there when Peter graduated from Kindergarten. He was there when Peter got his first crush. He was there when Peter had bad days from therapy (which he paid for), and when he got his service dog (which he also paid for). He was there when Ben passed. He was there for Peter. And Peter was there for him.

Peter was there to ground Tony during panic attacks. He was there to question the man when he was ready to do some stupid, life-risking thing. He was there when he was struggling to stay away from alcohol, serving as a reminder of why he was staying away from it. Because he loved Peter, even if Peter couldn't see it (pun intended). Peter brought out the best in Tony. A person he couldn't be without the aid.

Tony made sure that the tower was easily accessible for Peter, what with how often the kid came over. May worked twice as much, now, to accommodate the loss of her husband. She often sent Peter over to the tower so that Tony could keep an eye on him.

Peter was usually very good with directions. He knew his way around the tower maybe even better than Tony did. Even if Peter did get lost, Basr, Peter's service dog, who's name quite literally means sight, would know the way. Which was why what happened was a surprising and rare occurrence.

Tony was sitting in the boring meeting, trying not to fall asleep as the SHIELD agent droned on about shit they already knew. For god's sake, they just went on that mission, they don't need a recap of what they did, they did it. Tony glanced around at the team to see them all wearing the same bored expressions. He let out a loud sigh, causing everyone to shut up and stare at him. He simply gave a dimpled smile and a shrug at the stares. The agent continued. Suddenly, Friday chimed on.

"Tony, Peter is lost in the tower," Friday informed. Everyone stared at Tony once again, causing him to roll his eyes at the curious looks.

"Is Basr not here?" Tony questioned, already getting out of his seat.

"Basr is currently in Peter's room, napping," Tony snorted, no doubt that Peter left the dog there on purpose.

"Where is he, then?" Tony asked, walking out of the meeting.

"He is currently in corridor 157," Friday informed.

"Tell him I'm on my way, please,"

That was the last that the team had seen from Tony that day. The next day, though, they went to go say hi... AKA snoop on who Peter was. Let's just say, they were not prepared for the awkward meal that ensued.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

The team sat around the table. Every once in a while they would glance at Peter's sunglasses, wondering why he had them on. He probably just spent too much time with Tony.

"Erm," Clint cleared his throat. Everyone turned to him. "Peter, can you pass me the salt please?" (Dear lord help his soul P L E A S E) Peter just stared at him for a second before Tony spoke up.

"To your right, bud. No pepper," Peter nodded before grasping around for the salt shaker. He almost knocked it over at first. Finally, he sent the salt down the row. He was receiving weird looks from everyone but Tony.

"So! How do you know Tony?" Natasha asked. She had already deduced that Peter was sightless. Peter gave a small smile.

"He's a family friend," was the only explanation given, which only caused more confusion.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Tony and Peter were chilling on the couch, just talking with a movie playing in the background. Basr was laying next to Peter, his vest off. Soon, Tony just started explaining what was happening on screen. Suddenly, Sam ran into the room with water bottles. Seeing the two of them, Sam decided to be nice... ish.

"Think fast!" the bottle soared straight at an unsuspecting Peter, who got promptly smacked in the face with it. Basr was perked up. If dogs could glare, he'd be sending one at Sam. Peter had squeaked when the bottle made contact and froze up, but other than that, he made no motion.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

The team was stargazing on the roof. Peter was just enjoying the wind and the company.

"Woah, Peter, you see that?" Clint asked (Why do I always write Clint as the well-meaning dumbass? lmao). Peter couldn't help the snort that escaped. Natasha and Tony sent the man subtle glares.

"Can't really. Yaknow, being blind and all," Peter grinned at the sky. Many of them choked on their spit, causing the ones who been knew to laugh.

"Holy shit! I'm sorry!" Peter simply waved him off.

"I threw a water bottle at you," Sam groaned in embarrassment. Tony laughed louder.

"Oh, my G O D his FACE WHEN THAT HAPPENED!" Tony, at that point, was crying from laughter.

"We've been assholes this whole time and didn't even know it," Steve grumbled, sounding apologetic.

"Oh, I knew," Natasha said. Rhodey, Wanda, and Bruce nodded, saying that they knew as well.

"Oh great, the three of us are just dumbasses," Clint complained, causing Peter to snort.

"I'm surprised Cap isn't having an aneurism at all the curses. Hell, he said one himself! Peter, you needa come out as blind more often," Tony joked.

"I'll do you one better, Mr. Stark... I'm bi,"

Chaos ensued.
