I sat on the floor with Zach and I's baby, playing with a stuffed monkey.
She was born about five months ago, and these past five months have been extremely hard because Zach is on tour.
He was on tour before she was born and he flew home as soon as I texted him that I was in labor. He stayed with me until we both came home from the hospital, his dad instincts starting to kick.
When he left again for tour, I tried to convince myself that I could do this without him until tour was over. I made it, but I was glad that he was going to be home today because not only did I miss him, being a single parent was extremely hard.
I picked up our baby girl as I saw the Uber pull up out front. I ran to the front door, unlocking it as he walked up our driveway, a huge smile on his face.
He opened the door and smiled, "Daddy's home!" he cheered, pulling us both into a hug.
He kissed me, only pulling away when we ran out of air. I handed him our girl and he cradled her, kissing all over her face.
He walked to our couch and sat down, letting her rest on his chest as I rested my head on his shoulder.
"Thank god you're home. I missed you and single parenting is way harder than I thought," I quietly laughed.
"I know, baby, I'm glad I'm home too. I hated leaving you guys alone, it worried me."
We cuddled up on the couch and fell asleep as one cute little family.

About a half hour later, I woke up and decided I should start making dinner. I left Zach asleep on the couch with our girl and went to the kitchen to make dinner.
I made some spaghetti, the dish we ate on our wedding day. For some reason, Zach and I have always had a weird obsession with spaghetti. What was even weirder was that while I was pregnant, I hated spaghetti.
Zach must have woken up because he walked into our kitchen, letting our daughter play with his fingers.
He set her down in her high chair and then made his way over to me, lifting me up and kissing me.
"Baby, you have no idea how much I missed eating spaghetti with you while I was on tour," he smiled.
I smiled back at him and then handed him a plate.
We got our food and set the plates down.
"Oh, wait I forgot the parmesan cheese," he said, getting up to grab it from the fridge.
He grabbed it, turning back to me, but it accidentally slipped out of his hand and fell on the floor, causing a rather loud noise.
Of course it startled the baby and she started to cry, making Zach freeze.
I stood up and walked over to her, picking her up patting her back as I swayed from side to side.
"Oh my god, I made my baby cry!" Zach exasperated.
"Babe, it's okay, she's just startled, it's really not that bad," I said, smiling as her crying slowed down to just hiccups.
"I know, I just feel bad," he said.
I handed her to Zach, going over to pick up the cheese.
I set it on the table and smiled at the sight in front of me.
Zach was holding her tight, singing softly to her, which made a smile form on her face.
"See, she loves you. You're a great dad, Zach."
He waved me over and I walked to him, snuggling into his side.
"My beautiful girls," he whispered, kissing our daughter, then kissing me.
"I love you my angels."
