i was sitting in the cafe of a local bookstore, trying to catch up on some schoolwork.
i was fine, until this older man showed up and started eyeing me.
i was very uncomfortable, but i just tried to shake it off.
a few minutes had passed before the man moved tables so that he was closer to me. he kept staring at me and i became extremely uncomfortable, extremely fast.
i whipped my phone out and shot my boyfriend, daniel, a text.

no, some old man won't leave me alone and it's freaking me out.  can u please hurry, i need u

pack ur shit and get outta there, i'm on my way. do whatever you need to in order to stay safe. it's gonna be okay, love, i'm be there soon

i packed up my books and laptop and then got up and went outside to wait.
the old man followed me and he was about to walk up to me when daniel pulled up to the curb.
i dashed away and got into his car, my whole body shaking from the way that man was staring and making gross comments.
daniel drove us home in silence because i was so shaken up that i didn't want to talk.
when we got home, i went and took a shower and then sat on our bed next to daniel.
"hey, what happened earlier? are you okay?" he asked, moving over to he closer to me.
"uhm...the old guy was just staring at me. it was nothing it was just weird," i replied.
i didn't want to go into detail, i didn't want to cry and act like a baby.
"why are you so stubborn? i just want to make sure you're okay. don't lock me out, love," he said.
"i'm not locking you out."
"yes, you are. believe it or not, not everyone is going to hurt you. i won't ver hurt you, you can trust me on that. just tell me what happened, i only want to make sure that you're okay," he said softly, his hand rubbing up and down my back.
suddenly, i burst into tears, still just shaken up.
"no, don't cry. i hate it when you cry," daniel said.
he was quick to pull me into his chest, his nails lightly scratching my back for comfort.
"it was so scary, he was so creepy," i sobbed, my tears soaking daniel's shirt wet.
" shh, you're safe. i won't let you go. he'll never bother you again, not with me around," daniel assured.
i listened to daniel's heartbeat and calmed my breathing down enough so that i could kiss his cheek lovingly.
"i'm glad you're protective of me, you make me feel safe," i said, playing with the hem of his t-shirt.
"hey, i will protect you with my life. i'm your boyfriend, i'm here to make sure you're safe," he replied.
i smiled and pressed a kiss to his jawline.
"you wanna go to sleep?" he asked.
i nodded and we pulled our bed covers over us, then curled into each other.
"wait, don't go to sleep yet. i didn't get a goodnight kiss," daniel whined.
i quietly laughed and then pulled my head out of his neck so that i could place a soft kiss on his pink lips.
i pulled back, but he pulled me in again and kissed me over and over again until i stopped him.
"i know i've kissed you like....ten times, but can i get like.....ten more kisses?" he pouted.
"ok, that was really cheesy," i laughed.
"fine then, no more kisses for you." he continued pouting.
i rolled my eyes and then quickly placed one more kiss on his lips, which made him smile before we both said i love you and went to sleep.
