Jack and I laid on a hill in our small town, staring up at the stars.
Jack moved to our town about 10 months ago. Something just clicked with us and we instantly became best friends.
When he we first met, he was a huge flirt and the only thing he wanted to do was take me on a date.
I always rejected him and when we started being friends, I told him not to fall in love with me.
He always listened and he stopped with the flirting.
We laid in the grass and pointed out the constellations, just enjoying the peaceful night.
"I love you!" he suddenly blurted.
"W-what?"
"I love you! I'm sorry, I know that's hard for you to hear, but I'm so in love with you," he said, turning on his side to face me.
"Jack.....I told you not to fall in love with me."
"I know, but...why? What's so wrong about me loving you?" he asked.
"Because Jack! You deserve so much better!"
He just stared at me, his mouth hung agape.
"You're kidding right? You're so beautiful and I'm not the only one who thinks so, I can promise you that," he said.
I stared into his beautiful eyes as we both started to slowly lean in.
I didn't push him away, I kissed him back and silently cursed myself for not letting this happen sooner.
We pulled away for air and he pulled me close to him.
"I love you too, Jack."
"It's about time. I've been waiting forever to hear you say that."
I just smiled and rested my head on his chest as I slowly drifted off to sleep to the sound of his heartbeat.
