"Mom?"

"Yes, Sophia?"

"I think I found something...?"

"Really? What is it?"

"A nanny for that Mendes businessman's son."

"Okay. When is the interview?"

"Next Friday at 11 AM at his company."

"That's good. It's two days from now."

"Yeah.."

"What's wrong?"

"I just wanted something better... but it's better than nothing."

"I'm sorry, baby. I really am. I wish you could find something else."

Really? She really cares? Since when?

"It's okay, Mom."

"Do you have a nice outfit? That's Mendes! 𝙏𝙝𝙚 Mendes."

"Mom. The last thing I'd care about is an outfit."

"There's no such thing! You will wear a great outfit. Do you know how many people would want this job? You have to impress Mendes so that he would give you the job."

"Okay Mom. I will dress up. Anything else?"

"Makeup, accessories, perfume..."

"Okay, Mom. Okay. It's still two days away."

Oh my God. Mom would absolutely take it as a chance. Of course she would. Mom loves these kind of things. She likes to always wear makeup and wear accessories. My complete opposite.

"Hey, Mom. Thank you."

"Don't even mention it."

"Okay, then. I'm going to sleep. It's already 10 PM."

"You're boring. It's only 10."

"Goodnight, Mom." I said, rolling my eyes.

As if I haven't been her daughter for almost 23 years.
She knows so well that I don't sleep late.

Honestly, sometimes I feel like out characters should be switched. I wake up and sleep early, eat healthily, don't drink. She wakes up at noon and sleeps after midnight, eats unhealthily most of the time, unless she's on diet. She has to have a glass of wine every night after dinner.

My mother and I aren't really close, but she's my mother and I love her. We don't get along well.
And after the thing with Dad, it's even worse. It's like Dad was the reason why we talked at all. But he's not here anymore, so I have to learn how to get along with her without him. Which sucks. I miss him. A lot. But I'm thankful for Mom because without her, after the thing with Dad, I wouldn't have survived. We both wouldn't have. She saved us. And for that, I'm always thankful for her.
