Forty-seven

The first I did when I woke up is checking my phone.
It's Tuesday. 10 AM. Then, I went to the bathroom to wash face, brush my hair and teeth, wiping some water on my underarms and wear deodorant, and I changed my clothes. Aaliyah was still sleeping when I finished. So I left her room as not to wake her up. I checked on Bear. And Shawn, too if I'm being honest. I opened the door just slightly, took a look at them and left immediately. I didn't want someone to catch me. Shawn and Bear were curled in each other's arm, looking very vulnerable.

I called my Mom after I got downstairs to the living room. The call lasted for five minutes. She was at work when I called her, so she couldn't really talk.

Now, at 10:30 AM, I'm all alone in the living room. Obviously, no one is awake yet. But I spoke too soon. Noah just walked through the door.

"Good morning." He says, sitting next to me.

"Good morning."

"Soooo. You and Aaliyah, huh?"

"Shhhh." He said, clamping my mouth.

"Don't. Not here and not now. Besides, there's nothing between us."

"Yeah obviously. You freaked out when I mentioned I."

"I'll tell you everything, I promise."

"Okay."

I watch TV for a few minutes. Bear and Shawn enter the room then.

"Good morning, baby." I say, opening my arms wide.

He jumps into my arms, kisses my cheek. "Good morning, Soph."

"Good morning guys." Shawn says.

"Good morning." Noah and I say.

Shawn then takes a seat right next to Noah. Now Noah is sitting between me and Shawn.

"Slept well?" Shawn asks Noah.

"Sophia?" Shawn asks.

"Yes?"

"I asked you if you slept well."

Oh.

"Sorry. I thought you were asking Noah. I slept very well Shawn."

"Why would I ask him the as—he definitely slept well."

"Thanks for caring about me Man." Noah says, looking straight ahead at the TV.

A few minutes later, Aaliyah steps into the living room. Noah's face lightens up. I knew it!

"Good morning everyone." She says, rubbing the sleep from her eyes.

"Good morning." We all say.

She leans down in front of me. "Good morning, baby." She says to Raul.

"Good morning Auntie Aaliyah."

Aaliyah takes a seat on my other side.

Manny and Karen were the last ones to wake up. They were in the living room at 11:10 AM.

"Slept well, Mom and Dad? I hope...." Shawn says, smirking teasingly.

Noah bursts in laughter.

"Shut up, you ass!" Manny says, loudly, frustrated.

"Manny!" Karen scolds him for swearing in front of Raul.

Woah. What was that about? What is it that Shawn said that made Noah laugh?.....Oh. Sex.

Okay. I couldn't help smiling. But I didn't laugh. It's inappropriate.

"Sorry you guys." Noah says, finishing the laughter.
