"That was amazing." Shawn said, eating the last bite of his piece of cheesecake.

"Made it for Bear."

"You take care of him more than his mother ever did."

I smiled.

"I'm serious. And by the way, I thought about what you said."

I immediately know what he's talking about.

"I hope you didn't think I was intrusive."

"Not at all. That was an eye-opener. From now on, every weekend, I'm staying home with my son."

"That's the best thing I've ever heard you say."

"And that was the best cheesecake I've ever eaten."

I laugh at his comment.

"How old were you when you had Raul? You seem a little young to be a father of an 8-year-old."

"I got him at 22."

"Wow."

"Yeah."

"Okay. I need to leave. It's 10 PM. It takes me an hour to get back."

"I'm driving you."

"No."

"Yes. Get ready."

"Shawn, no."

"I don't take no for an answer."

"Make the exception tonight."

"Sophia, get ready. I'm going to get my car keys and wear my jacket."

"Thanks a lot."

"Thank you, Sophia."

He's being really nice. I hope it lasts.

A minute later, Shawn comes back from his room.

"Let's go." He said.

*******************
"I'm here." I say.

"How do you come from here every morning?"

"I take the bus."

"Is it safe?"

"Don't worry, Shawn. It's safe."

"Okay. Just making sure."

"Thanks a lot. Goodnight."

"Goodnight."

I open my front door, using my key and turn around to find Shawn still here. I wave him goodbye and get inside. I close the door and go to the living room.

"You're late." Mom says, startling me.

"Yeah. Sorry. I left the house a little later than usual."

"How's work?"

"Fine, I guess."

"Okay."

"Okay, then, goodnight Mom." I say, kissing her cheek.

"Goodnight, Soph."

**********************
"Good morning." I greet Shawn as soon as he opens the door.

"Good morning. Breakfast and coffee are ready. I already added the sugar and the creamer. Enjoy."

"Thanks a lot."

Today, I came here at 9:00 AM. It's how it goes here on the weekend

I take a seat at the table and start eating.
