Fifty-seven

I was completely taken by surprise when Soph wanted to sleep in my bed, with me, in my arms. I was ecstatic. Fuck, it felt good.

Here I am in my bed, with her sleeping next to me on her front, with one arm around my torso. I slipped out of my room quietly to start making breakfast. It's 8 AM, Noah would be awake now.

"Hey, man."

"Hey. How's Soph?"

"Very fine."

"Good. I'm sorry I didn't visit. That's an ass move of me but I'm definitely coming today. I was so fucking busy with work."

"Come as soon as you can, then. I'm making breakfast. Come eat with us. And I have news. That's why I called you."

"Good. I'll be at your house in an hour."

I started making waffles and pancakes for breakfast. I think Soph would like a sweet breakfast today after a few days of sickness. Thank God, she's fine now.
It's 8:45 AM now. Noah should be here in fifteen minutes.

Suddenly, I feel two arms wrap around my waist.

"Good morning, Mr. Mendes."

"Good morning, Miss Johnson." I say, smiling.

She pulls back and opens the fridge. She takes a blueberry and pops it into her mouth. "I can taste food now, thank God. It's such a shitty thing when you can't taste anything."

"Good. I'm happy you're good. And by the way, Noah is coming over."

"Very good. I miss him. When is Bear coming?"

"On Monday."

"Oh. I miss him. But Monday? A whole week?" She says, surprised.

"It's the summer vacation." I say shrugging.

The door bell rings. Noah.

She runs to the door and I follow her.

"Noah!" She opens the door and hugs him tightly.

"Soph! I missed you!"

They pull apart and I hug Noah. "Hey man."

"Hey." We pull apart.

"I'm so sorry I didn't come to visit. I was fucking busy because the CEO hasn't been doing his work. Someone had to do the work." He says.

I roll my eyes.

"He's been taking care of me, so I won't say a word about this." She shrugs.

Wow. I fucking love this girl.

"Come on. Food is ready."

We ate breakfast, chatting and laughing. I missed having the three of us at the same time. It's always good when it's the three of us. Always.

We had lunch, then. She cooked, of course after an argument. I tried my best to talk her out of it, but who was I kidding? Myself, probably.

I called Raul after lunch and he talked to Soph and Noah. Soph told him how much she missed him and that she wants to see him as soon as possible. Noah asked him about his days at his mother's.

Soph, Noah and I spent all the day together. Most of it in the living room. At dinnertime, I ordered McDonald's. She wanted to cook but I managed to convince her this time. I told her that she had cooked lunch and that it was only fair that we ordered food.

Our food came at 7:30 and we ate watching a movie: Love, Rosie.

I noticed something; I don't think about Christina at all. Like at all. Which is good, that's what I've always wanted anyways. It's all because of her, Soph. I love the hell out of her. But I'm not ready to say it. Because she wouldn't want to hear it.

"Earth to Shawn!" Sophia waves her hand in front of my face.

"Oh. Sorry."

"Yeah. You weren't even watching."

"What did I miss?"

"Rosie just found out about Greg's affair."

"Okay."

She shakes her head. "What is it?"

"Nothing." I smile.

And I continue watching the film. It's a nice movie. Soph chose it. I thought it'd be a bad movie honestly because her and my sister's taste in movies is.... well, not that good. But it was good. Really good, actually.

"I'm leaving guys."

"Oh. Okay."

We all stand up, say our goodbyes and Noah leaves.

"I should go, too." She says. "Mom and Julien are waiting for me."

"I'll drive you."

"Okay, Shawn."

I pull up in front of her house.

"Goodnight, Shawn." She says, hugging me.

"Goodnight, Soph."

"Oh. By the way. Thank you so much for the last few days. You're the best."

"I'd do anything for you."

I swear she blushes.

"Bye."

"Bye, Soph."

And I go back home, thinking about her.
