Now we're sitting on the living room's couch. I'm brushing over his arm and back. He really is miserable.

"You know, Shawn..? You can't always be like this every time he goes to his mother's. She loves him and she'd want to see him. No matter what her intentions are. And even if she had bad intentions, your son would want to see her. He loves her. She's his mother and he's her son. Whether you accept or not, Shawn, it'll always be like this. You have to accept it."

"I know. Damn it! I know it! I really want to accept it. But I think that she tells him some bad shit about me. And that's why I hate it when he goes there. But you're right, no matter what shit she does, she is his mother."

"What makes you say that she tells him bad shit?"

"He once told me. He told me that she told him that I yelled at her all the time when he was at school, blah blah blah. And he asked if it was true."

"Was it true?"

"It was. But I had my reasons. We'd fight about her affair. But, of course, she didn't say that she's a fucking cheater."

"What'd you tell him?"

"I told him that I did yell but because we were fighting."

"But he loves you, Shawn. And I don't think that what tells him is going to affect your relationship in any way. I mean, he lives with 𝘺𝘰𝘶, not her. And that means something to him, that 𝘺𝘰𝘶 took him to live with you after the divorce."

"Maybe you're right."

And now, he turned his head around, looking in my direction.

"I don't know what to do, Soph. I feel like shit."

"It's okay to feel like shit, really. I'll always be here for you. And you don't do anything, Shawn. Just let it go for now. If what she tells him did affected him, we'd know. And I don't think it'd affect him, Shawn."

He nods.

"Can I.... hug you?" He asked me.

Didn't see that one coming.

"Umm. Sure."

And he pulled into his arm. I respond by wrapping my arms around his waist.

"Thank you." He says, kissing my hair.

I nod.

"Have you eaten?"

"Nope. Have you?"

I shake my head.

"I'll cook. What do you want to eat?"

He shakes his head, chuckling.

"Again, Soph. You aren't 𝘮𝘺  nanny. You're my 𝘴𝘰𝘯's nanny."

"Shut up." I say, slapping his back. "Now tell me, what do you want to eat?"

"Let's go out to eat. What do 𝘺𝘰𝘶 want to eat?"

"McDonald's for sure. Let's go."

********************
"What's your order?"

"McChicken, Medium Combo, and my drink is Coke."

"Okay. I'll be right back."

I get a phone call.

"Hey, Mom."

"Where are you?"

"I'm at McDonald's, Mom."

"What are you doing there?"

"What would I do there, Mom? I'm going to eat here." I roll my eyes.

"What is going on?"

"Nothing, Mom. Are getting ready for your date?"
Shawn finally came with our food.

"Don't change the subject. And as soon as you get home, we'll have a conversation."

"Okay, but seriously. What about your date?"

"I'm going out, Sophia. Don't worry."

"Okay, Mom. See you tonight."

"What is it?" He asks.

"Nothing. We kinda fought before I came here."

"Because it's your day off. And now she's thinking I'm an asshole. Hell, I am an asshole."

"Hey. I came, didn't I? Did you force me? No. Then shut up and eat."

"Oh my God. I don't fucking deserve you." He rubs his face with his left hand.

I blush. "I don't fucking deserve you." Wow. He can be really sweet.

*******************
"Thanks for tonight, Shawn."

"Thank 𝘺𝘰𝘶 for tonight."

I nod, opening the passenger door.

"Goodnight." I tell him.

"Goodnight."

It's 11:00. Mom isn't here, I'm sure. She's on her date.

I open my front door and go to my room. I changed my clothes and went downstairs again to watch Lucifer on Netflix.

At 1:00 AM, Mom opened our front door.

"We need to talk." She says as soon as she sees me.
And she comes to sit next to me on the couch.

"What, Mom?"

"What the hell, Soph. You just leave all of a sudden this afternoon to go to Mendes' apartment. The boy isn't even there. And I call you, you tell me you're at McDonald's. Obviously with him. Are you two dating now?"

"I already told you that we aren't dating. I wouldn't date my boss, Mom."

"Then what the hell? Your behavior made it seem like it. Do you like him?"

And to that question, I couldn't reply. Because I do. But I won't tell her this. And I won't lie to her. I just stay silent.

"You like him, don't you?"

I don't answer.

"I'll take that as a yes."

I could see from the corner of my eye that she's smiling.

"Do you realize that this could get bad if it ever evolves?"

"Mom. I said 𝘐 like him. He doesn't like me. I'm just his son's nanny."

"Seriously? A nanny that goes to the boy she's working for's house, for whatever reason, because his father needed her. Yeah, definitely just his son's nanny. I don't like this. Don't you think that this is a little unprofessional? It's more personal, Soph." She sighed. "I'm just worried about you. Be careful."

"I will, Mom. I will." I say, wrapping my arms around her neck.

"Is he hot?"

"Oh my God! You're impossible!" I say, laughing, pulling back. "To answer your question, he's very hot."
