"Hello? Who's this?"

"Y/n-ah, it's Mingi! Are you free this Saturday night? We're gonna throw a surprise birthday party for Yunho"

"Uh..I need to check on my mother at 6 pm, when will the party start?

"Oh we're planning on having barbecue at 7 pm and will surprise him after that maybe around 9"

"I see, that's fine with me... Need any help?

"No, you just need to be there, be the cake girl"

"Huh.. Can you please share me the plan, in case it's not good enough-"

"Yah you don't need to worry about anything okay, I bet on 10 boxes of fried chicken with Yeosang that this will be Yunho's best birthday party surprise that will make him cry like a baby! I just need to make sure that you can come Y/n-ah"

"Um okay Mingi I got it even I'm not so sure myself, doesn't he rarely cry? My bet is with Yeosang then but goodluck to you princess!" you chuckled at the end before hanging up.

The week went quickly, Yunho has just dropped you off at your house. You went to your bedroom and continue decorating the picture frame for Yunho's birthday present. The frame includes some pictures his friends took of him, his friends, and also you. The other has already written their wishes for him and you're about to write one for him.

It's d-day now, you're closing the cafe early instead because San and Jongho are going to meet up with the guys at the barbecue restaurant. You didn't join the dinner because you have to tend your mom at the hospital. She doesn't seem to develop a serious symptoms so maybe she can be discharged next week. 

You spend an hour and a half catching up with your mom. It's 20 before 9 so you kiss your mom goodbye and left for the bakery to take the cake you ordered earlier. Your two hands are full now, one carrying the cake and the present on your other hand. You didn't know why but you feel nervous as you approaching the said restaurant.

When you arrived there, Wooyoung is outside the building while doing something on his phone.

"Wooyoung!"

"Oh you're here! Give me the present, prepare the cake now, I'm waiting for instruction from the guys"

"Okay" You're lighting the candles when Wooyoung startled you.

"Y/n! Now! Bring the cake upstairs now!" 

"Gosh you scared me! I nearly fire the chocolate bear geez!"

He just grinned and you went to the stairs. You feel your heart beats faster as you hear the boys loud voices. You shamelessly singing happy birthday loudly until the other sing it together with you. You see Yunho covering his mouth out of surprise cause he did not expect you to show up at all.

"Blow the candle birthday boy! Don't forget your wish too!" you beamed.

Yunho closes his eyes for awhile before blowing out the candles. "Woah thank you guys, I was surprised for real! You guys succeeded wuahhhh-" he clapped his hands acknowledging their effort. 

"That's not all bro, here look at this!" Wooyoung hands him a big box.

Yunho opened the box and stare at the picture frame he's holding. He read every wishes there and didn't notice a tear has finally dropped after reading yours.

"No! It's not supposed to be like that Y/n-ah!"

"Just follow me Yunho-ya, trust me okay?"

"Y/n-ah if you do it just according to your gut, this project might have fail and we can't even finish it by next week!"

Yunho got off from the chair and out of the study room. You grin to yourself "Great, I just need to sneak in the kitchen and prepare the cake, he must be surprised"

You've plan a birthday surprise for Yunho. You even asked your mother to bake a cake in the morning before Yunho arrived at your house to finish off the science project due to next week. You purposely make him mad, yeah you're quite a meanie but also fun. You see Yunho is seating on the bench of your backyard porch with his back facing you. 

~Happy birthday to you~ Happy birthday to you~ Happy birthday Yunho-ya~ Happy birthday to you~ 

You approach him with a messily decorated cake smiling brightly at him. "Come on! Blow the candle and also wish for a good present!"

He still looks mad but he obey you finally blow out the candles. "Yah is this all a prank?"

"Of course! Hahaha! You should look at yourself walking away grumpy like a mad baboon!"

"What did you just said!? Yah come here Y/n-ah!" You run away from him seeing he's gonna attack you with some whip cream from the cake. You run from him although he caught you in the end and now you're both on the backyard laying down after a lot of running and screaming that drained your energy.

"That was fun!" you cheered

"Yeah and I feel really happy"

"See, you should be thankful of having a great friend like me!"

"Y/n.. Thank you for being on my side.." He said slowly, enjoying the clouds moving and some nice breeze of spring air. He can't express his feelings with only words, he will really cherish this moment with you and pray for you to stay by his side forever.

⭐ another birthday surprise after so many years. you've always been there on his happiest day. no, you're the one who made his day at best. although some things change, there's also things that can't seem to be changed.
