You couldn't look at him, your eyes concentrated on the floor as tears silently fell from your chin.

"y/n?" Shouto's voice hesitantly asked, his fingers trying to reach yours only to have you step away. "What's wro–"

The light had finally hit the gem on your finger that you had been trying so desperately to hide.

"Y/n..."

"I had to say yes," you whisper as your hands press against your face. "I had to say yes."

"But I thought... he's such a bastard!"

Biting down on your lips did absolutely nothing to prevent the sob from escaping your lips, "I didn't have a choice, Shouto..."

"You do have a choice! You're not going to marry someone just because your parents fucking arranged it!"

"You're just angry that I'm not going to be your rebound anymore," you say gently despite the poison behind your words; you wipe away the tears on your face. "You'll be okay, Shouto... I'll be okay. Sure, he's a bit of an ass but–"

"Marry me," he snaps to you and hot tears stream down your face.

"I'm can't marry you..."

"Fine, don't marry me but please... I am begging on my knees. Please, don't do this."

You laugh bitterly, your shoulders tense as you look at your feet, "Why shouldn't I? Everyone in the world has got asshole personalities, no one fucking wants me to begin with? So why should I not go with him? He has money and things most people need in life."

"Because I have feelings for you," Shouto says and you scoff.

"I waited ten years for you to love me Shouto, ten fucking years. I was your rebound, I was the person you came to when life got hard, and now that I won't be here to collect the pieces you claim you love me? Fuck off!"

You didn't wait for him to respond back, choosing to instead storm off angrily as your fists remained clenched at your side.

Shouto could only stare at your retreating form as a velvet box burned him in his pocket, for you see he had finally realized that you were the one for him. But it seemed that he was too late.
