There was something to be said about sunrises.

Vivid and bright they shone on your eyes with the promise of a new beginning, of a new day in which you could be better.

The bright hues of reds, golds, purples, and pinks were enough to make everyone still and stare. It was a scene that never failed to steal breathes away because by god did it inspire the best from people. This was life, breathtaking, vibrant, and stunning. But there was another who held the power and the beauty of sunrises.

Sero Hanta.

He was your best friend, the person who could make you stop and stare at him whenever he smiles.

Red was seen whenever he was confident. He was never an angry red, he was a soft and a warm red. The red you thought of when you thought of love. Sero was always emitting red whenever he was around his friends when he was around you. It wasn't a color he wore often beside the red tie from his uniform, but there was something calming and invigorating about seeing him in red.

Golds were apparent whenever he was happy. It was deep gold, the one that twinkled darkly, the one that seemed like paintings because there was no way it was real. It was the gold you thought of when you remember what victory was. Sero emitted gold the most whenever he was doing hero training and when he was on the field. He wasn't the strongest and he may not always win by himself, but he was strong. He was victorious and he was someone who made you feel at peace when he was around.

Purples were a less often color you would associate with Sero as it was a color that showed ambition. Sero was a man who often tried going with the flow, he was a peacekeeper without ever trying to. In comparison to the other manic overachievers in your class, it was easy to think that he was a straggler as he was passive, but he was just as ambitious as the loudest of members. The purple was always looming around him, never leaving him, but faded beautifully into the other colors.

The last color was pink. Pink was a color you didn't notice in his aura at first. Pink the color of affection and growing love. It was a color that appeared with you around and faded when you left. It was a color that made your own cheeks turn pink because you never thought that Sero Hanta of all people would like you! You also never believed that someone you liked would like you as well. It made your heart melt as you stared at those colors.

Your eyes shifted from the horizon to your side.

It was six in the morning, and while you would normally still be asleep, you sat on the rooftop of the dorm building with Sero. Both of you wanted to watch this morning's sunrise, and so at the horrid hour of five a.m. the both of you climbed to the roof to watch this beautiful moment.

"I can't believe I let you convince me to do this," Sero chuckled as he pressed closer to your side. The two of you were sharing a blanket, nothing weird, nothing out of the ordinary for two friends!

"I didn't even convince you! All I did was say I never saw a sunrise before and YOU decided that we were doing this!" The laughter was heavy on your tongue as you shoved your best friend.

"I'm just ashamed that we've been best friends for three years and you just admitted to this," Sero sighs as he rests his head against yours. "I think this is cool."

Your eyes fell back to the still dark horizon, waiting for the sun to rise was becoming this weird anticipation within you. It was coming and you felt it.

Soft chatter continued between the two of you as you killed time, but your sleepiness was catching up to you as you sat warm next to Sero. The sound of him chuckling from the last thing you said was a lull that made your eyelids heavy. You wanted to stay away, you needed to stay awake, but there was something whispering in your ears to just fall asleep.

"Oh, here we go!" Sero exclaimed snapping you immediately from your wanted slumber.

Your eyes widened as you watched the sunrise over the horizon.

Colors spilled into the sky.

Ruby reds, golden yellows, soft purples, and pastel pinks.

Your jaw dropped as sleep vanished from your mind and you wanted only to bring in the colors and wrap them around you. You knew that Sero Hanta was like a sunrise, but never did you think it was this accurate.

"Fuck, you're beautiful," Sero murmured as he stared at your excited form. You stilled, your head snapping towards your best friend who had turned scarlet in his embarrassment. "Oh my, I didn't–"

"You think I'm beautiful?" You ask with a growing grin. You knew that he liked you, the pink was almost overwhelming when he was with you, but you had never acted on that information due to your own hesitation.

"Well, um, yes?"

The surprised yelp that escaped Sero's mouth as you connected your mouth with his in a sweet kiss. Your mouths molded against each other, and your bodies shifted as best as they could under the restriction of the blanket. Your fingers running through his soft hair until you pulled away.

Neither one of you said anything as your eyes fluttered open.

Nothing needed to be said, after all as the sky faded to blue, the colors of the sunset lingered in Sero's aura for hours more.

"I like you."
