Soulmates have the name of their other half inked on their wrists the morning of their eighteenth birthday.

"Are you ready?!" Mina asked excitedly as you sat at your desk. "I'm so excited to see who your soulmate is!"

Your eyes were glued to your wrist, the blank skin that you saw making your stomach squeeze. Tomorrow was your eighteenth birthday.

Being in a world where on your eighteenth birthday you would be able to know the name of the person who was your other half was incredible. The likelihood of you waking up the next morning with someone who is meant for you written on your wrist was mind-blowing. Of course, unless the person you were destined for was younger than you. Then you'd have to wait however long until they turned eighteen themselves. Statistically speaking, if your soulmate was a male they would be older than you.

Same-sex relationships, well, no one knew.

"I only hope that whoever they are, they're a good person who loves me." You smile as you look up at your pink friend. "I'm just ready to be the last girl here with her soulmates name known!"

Yes, you were also the youngest girl in the class.

All the girls had been lucky enough to be either the youngest person in their relationship or months later have a name appear on their wrists. You rubbed your wrist as you grinned as Mina exposed her wrist where the once black ink turned to gold.

Gold ink, the indication that your soulmate loved you back, wholly, completely.

"You totally have this!" Mina cheered as her fist shot up to the sky. "You will fall in love so hard, so fast! I bet it'll be during the first interaction!"

"I'm so nervous," You admit with a weak chuckle. "I don't know what's worse, not knowing who they are, or not getting the tattoo tomorrow."

Mina scoffs as she nudges you, "Be confident!" She insists even more so to you. "Who knows, you could get lucky like Yaomomo and Todoroki-kun and get someone you know!"

Your head turned towards the happy couple in the back of the room. Todoroki had his chair pulled to Momo's desk as they talked. The pit in your stomach sank as you recall Shouto walking into class after winter break.

For your entire three years at U.A., you had hoped and prayed that Todoroki Shouto was your soulmate. It was wishful thinking, childish hopes, broken dreams. You were in love with him, yet it was worthless. Your feelings forever untold as he presented his wrist with Yaoyorozu Momo printed neatly on it. Momo had giggled, her face full of mirth and joy as she showed off his name.

It was now days before graduation. Days until you would hardly see your classmates due to the intensive careers that came with being a hero. You shook off your bitter feelings. It was worthless to feel this way when the name of your soulmate who would hold your heart within their fingers for life would soon appear.
