"Can I go home?" I asked.

"Yes ...  yes you may." Pete said very slowly while staring deep into my eyes.

When I got up I realized my hands were still in handcuffs.

"A little help?" I asked Pete.

"Sure." He said while getting behind me to uncuff me.

As Pete started uncuffing me I could feel a burning sensation on the back of my neck. Like his eyes were made of laser beams and he was staring directly into the back of my head. When I looked into the mirror , he was doing exactly that. Staring at me like he was confused and amazed. When I continued to look at detective Pete Michael. I started to observe little things about him that made him even more attractive than before. As soon as the cuffs were off we both caught eyes in the mirror. Analyzing each other like it was our first time ever seeing one another.

"You're free to go." Pete said while clearing his throat.

"Thank you." I said while quickly grabbing my purse and my coffee and rushing towards the door. Before I was able to walk out of the door Pete stopped me.

"Hey." He said.

"Yes?" I said, turning around slowly.

"You never called me." He replied.

"I'm sorry?" I asked.

"I mean .. the card. You never called the number on the card that I gave you." He continued.

"Yeah , I'm just now feeling better today."

"Uh huh .. I see." He said.

"I'll be calling you very soon." I said while rushing out the door.

"I'm looking forward to It." He replied while giving me a strange look.

Detective Michael Pete's POV

"She's so strange" I whispered to myself as Detective Melanie Lowe played the mall's servalence footage over and over again.

"Strange isn't the word." Detective Melanie Lowe mumbled before leaving the room.

"Hey Lowe" I said, calling her back into the room.

"Yeah ?" she shouted before entering.

"You think just some regular old city girl, from out of town, without any training or even an athletic background whatsoever , could out run and take down a couple of mall cops?" I asked while staring at her picture from her file.

"Those weren't mall cops. Those were off duty Police officers doing their daily routes and check ins around the city who just so happen to decide to go to the mall and get some food before clocking in." Detective Melanie Lowe said while slamming more files down onto the desk.

"What's this?" I asked her.

"Those are files over the girls parents who passed from the plane crash a little while ago." She responded.

"Mr. and Mrs.-"

"Coveere." She finished.

"You think it's a coincidence?" I asked.

I began wrapping my mind around the whole situation putting everything together piece by piece just like a puzzle.

"Lowe.....I think she heard the lie detector." I continued.

"What do you mean?" She asked.

"I mean she heard the lie detector through the walls into the other room and it said she was telling the truth when we both knew she was lying." I whispered.
