I woke up on a big green couch that smelled like my grandfather's cologne he used to wear during the holidays. As I continued to look around, I realized that I was in someone's house. It was so strange that I didn't know where I was but it felt like home.

"Hey" Pete said softly while approaching me with a cup of coffee.

"What's going on?" I asked in a panic.

"Shhh." He whispered.

"Calm down it's okay you're at my place. You're safe here." He said while setting the coffee down.

"Why? What happened?" I asked.

"Well what is it that you remember? Do you even know where you were before this?" He asked while sitting down beside me.

"Yes .... I remember being at the hospital and I remember hearing a lot of arguing and yelling but I don't understand?" I responded.

"Well... you were at the hospital but then... here I'll show you." He said while reaching over me to get the remote.

He turned the news on that showed only a small  part of  the city being hit by some type of tornado storm. The main part of the city that got hit was the neighborhood of the hospital I was just in. As a matter of fact the hospital was in the dead center of the tornado,  which made it the most damaged.

"Did that all just happen today while we were in there?"  I shouted.

"No." Pete said.

"How did we make it out alive? Is everyone okay? Are you okay?" I started to freak out.

What is going on and why am I in Detective Michael Pete's house alone with him? I barely know this man and he barely knows me. Why is he being so generous to a woman that he only met a few days ago under criminal circumstances.

"Don't touch me!" I yelled.

Then quickly, I stood up grabbing a glass tray that was sitting beside the couch on the end table.

Pete then put his hands in the air and stepped back.

"Listen Amilia, you've been asleep for 3 days straight, you're delusional and not quite well. Nurses from uptown have been coming in and out of here and taking care of you. You've been in some type of  coma." He said calmly.

"Listen ever since I moved to this city things have been getting weirder and weirder!" I shouted.

"And ever since I met you it's gotten worse!"

"Amilia I'm not here to hurt you," Pete said softly while walking towards me.

"I'm here to help you."

Pete then walked up to me and slowly removed the glass tray from my hands and set it as far away from me as he could.

Before I could say anything Pete's phone began to ring.
