Infront of the door they stood, both of them looking nervous.
"Here we go." Peppa said ringing the door bell, which was immediately answered. The young lady they saw earlier on now stood infront of them.
"Hi" She greeted, "can I help you with something?"
Peppa smiled, "Hi, I am...... Kath, and this is my daughter...... Amber, we once knew a lady by the name of Henna Maxwells, and we were wondering if she still lived here."
"O, you have come to the right place." The lady happily said, her eyes moving to the items they had in their hands before welcoming them into the house.
Amy's Diary.
When we entered, I couldn't help but run my eyes over the very house my mother grew up in. It looked simple but radiant. The first sight after entering was a living room to the right. Ahead was something like a hallway which I am sure led to the rest of the house. The left was an open space, but there were a lot of pictures on the wall. I was certain the left led to the backyard. On the wall were pictures of a middle aged woman, then one of her with a man and two children, a boy and a girl. I saw aunt Peppa move to one of the pictures and I followed her. In the picture was a beautiful lady sitting with two girls on her lap. The two girls, ones hair red and the other brown, had their heads falling back as they laughed and the smiling lady had her face close to the girl with the brown hair, like she was playing with them. I couldn't help but smile as I am doing now.Peppa moved away from the picture, wiping her eyes with her hand. The young lady came back after going to one of the rooms.
"Follow me please." She said, leading Peppa and Amy to the dinning room.
Sitting by the table was the middle aged man from the picture and another young lady, who looked younger than Peppa.
"Hi, you are welcome." The man said standing to his feet. There was a banner in the house with the words, 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY HENNA.'
"I am Nicholas James." The man introduced himself, "Henna's husband."
A look of surprise flew past Peppa's expression.
"I am Kath, Henna's —good friend." Peppa greeted.
"Well, have a seat." Mr. James offered, "This is my daughter, Kelly." He introduced and Kelly shook hands with Peppa, "and this is my other daughter, Leila." The lady they entered the house with.
"I am sorry, but my wife is not in the house at the moment. We wanted to surprise her here at home so my son took her somewhere far, and I just received a phone call that they are on their way coming."
"That's nice." Peppa smiled, and Amy looked at her, surprised at how calm and reserved she was. Wasn't he the man who ruined their lives?
Peppa took a seat and Mr. James who was quite a lively person engaged her in a conversation.
Amy was confused but she decided to play along with everything. Kelly who was the same age as her mother was very lively as her father, cracking jokes about how she hated school when she was Amy's age.
After a while of chatting and laughing, they heard a car honk and everyone in the house stood, running up and down.
Leila went for a cake with candles on it.
"They are here." Mr. James excitedly said, and they all run to the door, but Peppa froze in her seat.
She looked pale all of a sudden. The fear of meeting her mother after so many years got to her.
Amy and Peppa were left at the kitchen as the rest of the family stood at the door, but they could hear everything they did from where they sat.
The family screamed, "Happy birthday!", and a matured but tender voice said, " thank you guys!"
