Bernadette Buenaventura’s

“These are the financial reports for the past six months. Complete with the inventories, investments, actual loss… everything you have to know.” Inabot ko kay Papa ang mga papeles.

“It’s not the end of the year.” Kunot-noong sabi niya, “Why are you handing these?”

I sighed and sat down across him, “Please, read them Papa.”

He gave me a look before putting on his reading glasses. Ilang segundo niya pa lang itong binabasa’y napakunot na agad ang noo niya, “What is this piece of trash?”

“That piece of trash is a proof na hindi epektibo si Amanda bilang CEO ng kompanya. Papa, that’s the largest loss the company ever had. Kapag nagpatuloy pa ‘yan at hindi tayo kumilos agad upang mabawi ang mga nawala sa ‘tin, there’s a big possibility that we’re in for bankruptcy.”

He put the papers down and brought his hands together to think, “Have you analyzed this?”

I nodded, “I have an alternative solution.”

He gave me a scrutinizing look before raising his thick brow, “What is it?”

“I will establish a partnership with a foreign company, a very powerful one, in order to spread our span of control and expected profit.” I said, “And to do that, we need Eden and Patricia to get married as soon as possible.”

He leaned closer as it drew his interest, “That’s a risky plan.”

“I know,” I nodded in agreement, “But it’s worth a try.”

“You’re risking their trust on this?”

Again, I nodded. “It’s all or nothing.”

I am currently checking the current financial capability of the company. I want to check how long it could stand on its own so I can foresee my plans.

Biglang bumukas ang pinto at pumasok si Ricardo, he stood defiantly across the table then he slid an envelope toward me.

“What’s this?” I raised my brow while giving the envelope a look.

“I want a divorce.”

I was caught off guard. This isn’t what I planned, hindi kami pwedeng maghiwalay.

“I thought we talked about this?” I leaned further on the swivel chair at the same time crossing my legs, “I told you if we separate. It’ll cause a huge mess on the company and your family’s asset. Not to mention your reputation as a businessman Ricky.”

“I don’t care.” Diretsong sabi niya, “I can’t leave with this Bee. Hanggang ngayon iniisip mo pa rin ba ang ginawa ng pamilya mo kay Eden? I told you it’s not their fault he died.”

I smirked, “It’s not about revenge Ricky. I accepted that fact years ago. I just want to ensure my son’s future—“

His eyes widened at ibinagsak ang kamao sa lamesa, “By breaking your family apart?”

I kept calm and sighed as I clasped my hands, “I am not breaking my family. This family is wrecked ever since our company was born Ricardo. There’s no helping it.”

“I’m telling Amanda to give up the CEO position and we’ll leave after you sign the divorce papers.” He said, “I’m sorry, I want to help you but I love Amanda more.”

“I’m sorry Ricardo but I’m not signing the divorce papers.” I insisted and sat straightly while looking straight at him.

“What are you talking about?” His forehead creased, “Bee alam mong mahal ko si Amanda. Napagkasunduan na natin ‘to.”
