Chapter 6

CHAPTER 6:

Emma's POV:

I am usually not a morning person but I get up pretty early the next day, at 9. Since I am up, I clean around the apartment a little. I change the bed sheets and the pillow covers and everything. I like changing the pillow covers and bed sheets every few days. I am somewhat like Monica from Friends, I like a certain things a certain way. If they change then something always looks odd to me. I make some pancakes and a glass of coffee for myself. I read the newspaper while having breakfast. I get ready to go meet Jules and everybody else.

I decide to wear blue jeans with a white V-neck and black belt. I leave my hair open as I like it that way but still grab a rubber band, just in case. I grab some money and the keys to the apartment and lock the door. I feel too lazy to drive so I walk to the restaurant where Jules works. I reach the restaurant just in time when I see Sean walking in. he holds the door open for me. I thank him and we wait for others to come. Sean says that he has new pickup lines that will melt the women to a lovey mess. He asked whether he could try them on me.

I say "Why not?"

"Are you an orphanage? Coz I wanna give you kids" he says.

"I am no organ donor but I would love to give you my heart" I fire one back.

"Do you play soccer? Because you are a keeper."

"Let's flip a coin, heads you're mine and tails I am yours."

"Are you a blanket? Coz I love it when you are on top of me."

"Are you Australian? Because you meet all of my koalafications."

"I think the gaps between my fingers were meant for yours"

"What?! That doesn't even make sense." I say in between my laughs. When he is just about to explain we realise that we have an audience. Everybody is looking at the both of us with question marks on their face. I tell everybody that it was nothing and that we were just throwing pickup lines at each other. They all laugh it off but Jeremy just walks away without as much as a reaction.

"What pissed in his cereal in the morning" Veronica asks. We all laugh it off.

"So, everybody ready to go?" Isaac asks. We all nod our heads and get out of the restaurant when Veronica, Sean, Jules and Isabella get inside Sean's car. I tell them that I don't have a car and they tell me to go with Jeremy and Isaac. Well, bad day not to drive a car. Jeremy takes his sweet time coming out of the restaurant with a glass of some cold drink that looks like some slush or something. This is going to be a really long drive. Jeremy settles in the drivers eat and Isaac takes the backseat. I give him a weird look and begrudgingly sit in the front seat.

"so, where are we going?" I ask to nobody in particular. As Sean is very busy on his phone, Jeremy huffs annoyingly and says that we are going for bowling then for a movie and then dinner. I don't say a single word after that.

Everybody else is already there waiting for us outside the bowling alley when we pull in. Sean pays for me at the counter, I offer him the money but he doesn't take it at all. He threatens me that if I offer again, he will never talk to me again. So I thank him and put my money in my back pocket.

We play two games and Veronica wins the first one and Isaac wins the second one. I am consistently last in both the games as I suck at bowling. We then go to the theatre and they decide to watch some horror movie. I hate horror movies as they keep me paranoid for days and I can't think straight. But I don't tell that to anybody.

When everybody goes inside the theatre, I go to the washroom to kill sometime. When I come back, I realise that I have the aisle seat and besides Jeremy. This is like my worst nightmare coming alive. I prepare myself from some bad comments and everything as I take my seat.

Within the first few minutes I know that this movie is going to be a death of me. I am moving a lot in my seat. I am very close to panicking and I do not know what to do.

"Put your head on my shoulder and sleep. You can also hold my hand if you want. I will wake you up when the movie is almost over." Jeremy whispers slowly into my ear so nobody hears us.

I jerk my head towards him and look him in the eye. He looks at me with equal intensity. I am too shocked to say anything or do anything so when Jeremy notices that I am not doing anything. He place my head on his shoulder and pulls me hand around is arm. I settle in comfortably and do as he says. I am asleep within seconds.

I feel somebody moving me, and I don't want to get up at all. I am just way too comfortable.

"You have to get up, the movie is going to end in ten minutes" I hear someone whisper in my ear. I wake up with a jerk. I look around and I realise that I was asleep on Jeremy's shoulder in the theatre. I thank him silently and look at whatever was left of the movie.

I am so glad when the movie is over. I think I am the first one to get out of my seat, and I swear I hear Jeremy laugh a little. But I am just too excited to get out. I feel much more comfortable around Jeremy now that I know that he doesn't plan on killing me, not that he ever wanted to, I think. I realise that I like this Jeremy over the Jeremy that was at school. He is less of a jerk and a tad bit friendly. I think this is what makes me like him a little bit more. I haven't seen him like this before. He has always been very rude but now I like when he does sweet things for me like this. It shows that he is not as heartless as I thought he would be.

I have this weird fuzzy feeling in my heart when I am walking towards Jeremy's car. We settle in the car with the same arrangement. But this time it feels a little different. The car ride is not awkward and Jeremy makes conversation with Isaac and a little with me too. I like that he is trying to be tolerable with me too.

They decide to go to the restaurant a little out of the city. We reach the restaurant in half an hour. It's a very cozy looking restaurant. I overheard them talking that a lot of the Uni students come here to celebrate. It's a somewhat posh looking restaurant but doesn't need reservations on weekdays as no one comes here on the weekdays.
