CHAPTER 10:
Emma's POV:
I wake up because of so much light in the room. I realise that I am still wearing yesterday's clothes. I have a pounding headache and my phone is dead. I look around for a clock but I realise that I don’t have a wall clock. I slowly get out of bed and get to the kitchen somehow and grab some Tylenol and a glass of water. Next I go to the ensuite bathroom and stand in front of the mirror. My makeup is everywhere on my face. My lipstick and mascara is smeared really bad. There are streams of make up running down my face because of all the crying I did. I wash my face and brush my teeth. I don’t remember a single thing that happened after the second shot of vodka.
As I look in the mirror, I realise that I have little piggy eyes.
I charge my phone while a take a bath and prepare breakfast. After the breakfast I sit in front of the TV. I grab my phone and my phone blows up with messages. I realise that I forgot to tell anybody. The last message from Jules is to meet her at the café at 3 in the afternoon after our last lecture. That is when it suddenly hits me that I missed all the lectures for the day and I am fifteen minutes late to meet Jules. I get ready in a record breaking time of five minutes and get to the cafe as quickly as possible.
By the time I reach the café I am huffing and puffing. Let me tell you one thing, I am not athletic at all. I see Jules waiting for me at the table in the corner with Bella. I take a seat and after one look at me, they give me some water and let me calm down.
“Girl! Where were you? You should’ve at least told us you were leaving. I swear if Jeremy hadn’t told me you left I don’t know what I would’ve done it” she says to me as soon as I calm down.
“Wait! How did Jeremy know I left? As long as I remember, I didn’t see Jeremy the whole night.” I say as I try to remember what happened yesterday. “But I will still talk to him and see what happened. I don’t know shit about yesterday. I was too drunk.” I add and they laugh at me.
We talk for sometime and I take the notes from them so I can cover up at the apartment. We leave after sometime. I take a strong black coffee back with me because god knows I will need it. As I am walking to my car, I see Jeremy walking. So I decide to go talk to him.
“Hey Jeremy! How was class?” I ask him.
“oh! It was great” he says sarcastically but he still has a smile on his face. “So how was last night? Had fun?” he asks me. For a second, he just scans my face, looking for something. He gives me a weird look but doesn't say more.
“Well…” I try to stretch out a little. “It’s just that I don’t remember much, but enough about yesterday. By the way, I came here to ask you if I could borrow your world religion notes?” I say hoping he would agree. I don’t know what I said but something ticks him off. And he is in a pissed mood out of nowhere.
“Whatever. I will drop the notes at your place in the evening” and he leaves just like that. Before I can thank him or say anything, he gets in the car and leaving me dumbfounded. I decide I will ask his problem when he comes by in the evening.
I am very determined when I go home and wait for Jeremy to come.
Around seven I wonder that he may be late and will come soon. I wait for 15 minutes that turns into two hours and three hours but Jeremy never came. As I wait for him, I fall asleep on the couch.
I wake up to the sound of knocks. It’s still dark so I know it isn’t morning. I wonder who came right now. I grab the first thing that comes in my hand, the pillow. I will just smash the person so he won’t be able to do anything. Without thinking much, I swing the door open. And I see the last person to expect. Jeremy stands there in all his glory. I rub my eyes to make sure I am not dreaming. But yes, he is still there. He is still wearing what he was wearing in the morning. Black jeans and a white t-shirt. He has his notes in his left hand.
" Seriously, a pillow?" He asks me, amusement dancing in his eyes.
