CHAPTER 63:
Emma's POV:
I wake up to the sound of someone crying and I immediately sit up. I grab Steel and walk out of the room, careful not to wake Scarlett up.
I cradle him in my arms and try to lul him back to sleep. So, I wonder if he is hungry. I read the few recipes Emily has written down for me. For night, it's just some warm milk.
I grab a pan and start warming some milk up while I hold Steel in my arms. He is still crying, if anything, he is even more loud. I try to shush him but he doesn't back down.
As soon as the milk is warm, I grab a spoon and start giving him little milk. He shuts up and starts drinking the milk. When the milk is over, I throw the bowl in the sink and take Steel in my arms again. He is a really healthy kid so carrying him for longer periods is impossible for me.
I do a quick check on Scar to find her sleeping so I sit in the living room with Steel in my arms.
"What do you want to do? Huh?" I talk to him in a baby voice while he stares at me like I am insane. Which I probably am.
"You wanna play? What do you wanna play with? Your chew toy?" I say and grab that from his bag and give him. He does nothing but stare at it. I sigh and look at the time. It's almost 6 in the morning. We have been up for almost an hour and it doesn't look like he is going back to sleep anytime soon.
I place a few of his toys around him and he starts crawling around the room with his toys. Coming over to me every few minutes to give me the toy. It looks like he doesn't want to play with me. I pout a little but get over it pretty quick.
I looked through Emily's recipes that she had written for Steel. Making sure I had everything at home. But going through the list, I probably needed to make a stop at the grocery.
At around nine, Scar walks out of the room rubbing her eyes.
"Goodmorning Scar!" I greet her.
"Goodmorning aunty" she says and gives me a hug.
"What do you want for breakfast?" I ask her as we to the kitchen. Steel crawling right behind us.
"Umm... pancakes" she shouts in excitement and I chuckle.
"Sure but mommy said milk is compulsory. So a glass of chocolate milk sound okay?" I ask her as I start grabbing the ingredients for the pancake. I realise that I don't exactly know the ingredients. Ver wasn't here for the weekend, she had gone to her grandparents place for the week. I grabbed my phone and opened Jeremy's contact. My finger hesitated before hitting call.
As the ring started ringing, I started wondering if this was a good idea. But before I could hang up, he picked up.
'hey'
He breathed out, his voice a little groggy.
'hey, so sorry to
disturb but can I
please have your recipe
for chocolate pancakes?'I say and just hope he won't say no.
'umm.. sure. Everything good?'
