CHAPTER 30:
Emma's POV:
"Lets talk in your room. It will be more comfortable for you." He just nods his head and starts walking towards his room. He sits on the bed and I take a seat beside him. For a minute, he doesn't say anything. I can see that it is very hard for him.
"She was adopted and was almost ten years older than me. I was very unexpected for my parents but they've loved me just as much. But my father always had a soft spot for her. She was brilliant study wise and personality wise. So when she died, it affected everyone but it affected my father the most." He says and takes a deep breath. I don't know how difficult it must be for him to open up, but I feel grateful. I just sit there and comfort him. I hold his hand in mine and draw random circles on it with my finger
"She had always treated me more like a friend then a brother. But we were inseparable. She would tell me everything and I would reciprocate too." He smiles sadly, as if he is almost reminiscing his memories.
"It was the 10th of December when it happened. I remember very clearly like it happened yesterday." He says and I can see tears building in his eyes.
"You don't have to tell me if it's that difficult for you" I say hoping to console him.
"No, it's okay" he says and looks straight ahead.
"She used to go to work with my father almost everyday. She knew almost everything at the very early age of 22. She had graduated and wanted to take a weekend off with her friends before joining the business officially. My father didn't want her to go but he agreed after a little buttering. She was going to Miami for the weekend and was supposed to be back on Monday morning, but... She never came" he says and I am so curious right now but I don't want to hurry him.
"She was found on the shore, dead" he says and my eyes widen.
"Apparently, one day before, she had gone out on a walk at night. She wanted to clear her mind and she went alone, big mistake. She must have been walking for a long time and her legs had started to hurt. But when she turned around, she realised that she is lost. She didn't have her phone with her. It was getting late, minute by minute." He takes a break.
"Just then she heard noises coming from somewhere along the way. She walked towards them and it was a group of four young men and two ladies with them. She informed them that she was lost and if they could help her. They agreed to help her but as they started walking, my sister realised that they were all high and most probably drunk. She insisted that she didn't need their help anymore but they grabbed her hand and pulled her towards an empty street." He adds and by now his tears are falling rapidly. I wipe his tears off and he hugs me. I pat his back and try my best to comfort him.
"Those people beat her and when she ran away towards the shore they followed her. The ladies held her hands and legs and picked her up. The threw her in the water and she sinked. She never learnt how to swim because she was afraid of water. Her friends didn't realise she went missing till the next morning" he says and I have tears in my eyes too. It is so sad that I can't help but think of my brother.
"It was all over the news. My whole family went down there but there was nothing that could be done." He says and a tears selling in his eyes.
"What happened to those people? Did they catch them?" I ask him. I see the loss in his eyes turn to anger.
"Those bastards, they nover got caught" he laughs and it scares me and it isn't even directed at me.
