CHAPTER 34:
Emma's POV:
The next few days pass by in a blur. Jeremy and I met sometimes to study for the upcoming exams. He tried teaching me how to cook in between the study sessions. I met the girls too for a night out. We talked about other stuff because all of us were tired tof studying and needed a night.
Fast forward to today, it's 23rd December. We have finally reached San Francisco. We have landed about fifteen minutes ago and are heading out. My parents don't know so it's a surprise for them. Jeremy has his car coming to pick up the both of us as both his parents know.
As we exit the airport, we get in the car. It's a twenty minute drive from the Airport. He drops me at my house and he heads over to his. We decide to meet later in the evening.
I stand in front of my childhood house. It's just like I remember before I left. I have had good memories and bad memories but I wouldn't even give this up for a million dollars. It feels so good to be back. I walk towards the door and ring the bell, waiting for someone to open the door. I can't control the excitement anymore. As soon as the door opens, I hug the person. It's my Dad.
"Hey dad! How are you?" I say as I pull back from the hug. I have missed him so much.
"Oh my god, Emma! What are you doing here?" He asks me, surprised to see me.
"I am back for two days. Are you not happy to see me?" I ask him, jokingly.
"You are always welcome here" he says. Just then I hear my mom coming.
"Honey, who is it?" I hear her from somewhere inside, definitely the kitchen. Just then she appears from the back.
"Emma! What a surprise!" She says and almost runs over to me to pull me in a hug.
"Can't.. breathe.." I say breathless.
"Sorry" she says when she pulls back. She can't help but pull me in for a second hug. I laugh but hug her back.
"Sweetie, let her in" my dad says. We pull apart and I get in. As I am climbing the stairs, I give a glance to the whole wall that is filled with frames. There are photos of everything. My parents in College, their wedding, their honeymoon, my grand parents, my mom's first pregnancy, my brother's childhood and I am still looking when I feel a presence behind me. It's my mom and dad.
"Sweetie, don't cry" I didn't even realise that I had tears in my eyes.
"We all miss him but he wouldn't want you to cry" my dad says. I nod at him and head towards my bedroom. As I open the door, I am brought back to when I was still here. Not a single thing is out of place. It looks like it has been cleaned everyday. I walk in, keep my suitcases aside and go for a shower.
I take a lot of time because I am tired from the long flight and I just want to sleep. When I come out, I grab my softest pyjamas shorts and a tank top from the cupboard and go downstairs.
"I am starving" I say as I enter the kitchen.
"Take a seat, I have prepared food for you" she says and places to plates in front of me. One plate is filled with fruits and the other one has chicken rice.
"I have longed for your food" I say as I start eating. It has been long since I ate something my mom made. I moan as I fill my stomach with delicious food. My mom just laughs at me but joins my dad in the living room.
