Chapter 19

CHAPTER 19:

Emma's POV:

I am looking at Veronica and I can't believe my eyes. I just can't stop staring. The girl with her has already gone before anybody could see her. I am so surprised right now and that was not something I was expecting.

"Are you okay?" Jeremy asks me. He is so close to me right now. He looks so concerned for me and I don't know what to say.

"Um.. Yaa I am fine. I just saw.. uhh.. a snake. Yes a snake. So it's scared me. Nothing more." I tell them so they don't worry much. I don't say anything else but I just walk inside the house and go back to my room. I take a few deep breaths to calm me down. I try calling my therapist because I need to talk to someone. She doesn't pick up the call. I take a few deep breaths to calm myself. I wash my face and I start feeling better.

As I come out of the bathroom, I see Jeremy and Veronica both. I try to act as casual as possible.

"What's up guys?" I ask them and take a seat beside Veronica. Jeremy is standing in front of the closed door with hands in his pockets.

"Ya.. why did you call is here? Anything wrong baby?" Jeremy asks her and the word baby stings a little more then it should.

"She knows Jeremy" Veronica looks at him and then at me. I don't know what to say so I just look around the room to avoid eye contact.

"Knows what?"Jeremy ask, now confused.

"That.." she takes a deep breath "I am gay" she says and my eyes bug out of my sockets at her bluntness. Her words were so straight forward that she weirded me out. I thought she will make some excuse but.. what can I say.

"Ohh" Jeremy says when he realised what Ver meant.

"Why haven't you told anyone?" I ask her. That is the first thing I can get out of my mouth after her big revelation.

"I haven't come out to my parents. So, I didn't want anyone to know. I don't want anyone to make fun of me" she says and looks down.

"No one is going to make fun of you, Ver. I don't know about the others but I am always there with you" I tell her and take her in for a hug. I try comforting her with soothing words.

"But wait.. what's the deal with Jeremy?" I pull her back and ask her with a confused look.

"I asked him to be my fake boyfriend. I had a dinner with my parents where they wanted to meet the guy I have been seeing. My parents are very strict Christians. They won't accept me. So I asked him to come with me." She explains a little sheepishly.

"I agreed because I thought it was a one time thing but then Isaac saw the both us together so we had to continue pretending" he adds on. I suddenly realise that he is also present in the room.

"Ohh" I say. " When will you let the others know?" I ask her.

"I don't know" she replies.

"You should do it as soon as possible. They won't like it that you hid it from them for so long" I tell her.

"Okay.. I'll tell them tomorrow" she says after Jer persuades her more.
