Day 3: Thief

"Hello, Mum," You bow to your mother before awkwardly shifting yourself inside the room. Weekends with your family has always been the worst. Before, you wouldn't have realised how much liberal and freedom people needs  until you moved out. Your family environment, constant discipline and gatherings are too suffocating for you. Every weekend, when you come to visit your family to attend dinner, you feel like throwing up as soon as you enter the tensed and compressed environment. At this point, it's not out of love you're attending the dinners, it's almost another rule of your family that you are forced to follow.

Your so-called mother silently approves of your arrival. You silently sit at the dinner table, already counting seconds. This can't get any more boring than this.

You try your best not to yawn at the business talks that have been going on for past two hours. According to them, you made a wrong move by getting employed rather than join their business. However, you wanted better and something realer than be a CEO of one of your family companies by climbing through nepotism.

"So, Y/n, how is your work going on?" The very oldest uncle of yours speaks with a low grunt, clearly not keen to know the answer but just asked due to formality.

You, of course, answer the same as always. "It's good, everything is going smoothly." You swallow the unsalted steak, although you would much rather vomit on their faces and go stuff your face with real food with some taste.

"When will you consider the proposal from the Jung Company?" Your mother decided to stop beating around the bush and ask straightforwardly.

You dared to roll your eyes, which didn't go unnoticed by your family as they immediately called you out on it and hearing your biological mother telling you to "Behave."

Usually when you get asked this question, you politely avoided. However, today your felt the sudden frustration invading you.

"Mum, this is my life. I do not want to get married to your business partner. Marriage isn't a deal!" You were fed up at this point. You were done being polite. Every single weekend of yours was wasted by them asking you the same question and trying to convince you to marry.

You did not care at that moment. Jimin's word from yesterday was still fresh in your ear. "Liberty comes from within. You need to free yourself first so others can free you. You cannot be the one obeying their bullshit, if you free yourself first, you will get the courage to speak up against them and they will get discouraged to control you. They will only control you if you let them."

Your tears swelled up at the thoughts. "Y/n! I AM TELLING YOU TO TAKE A SEAT!" You may have zoned out as your mother had to increase her tone to snap you back in the real world.

"You are getting out of hand, young lady." She states matter of factly. "I shouldn't have let you move out. It's those friends influencing you. It's Luna isn't-"

"Leave Luna out of your mouth." You didn't know from where you got the sudden courage from. "I'm not marrying any stranger!"

"Jung isn't a stranger!" She shrieks. "You will be having a meeting next weekend and that is final. You may leave now, I do not wish to ruin the positive family environment. I'm going to have to have a word with you later-"

"Forget it. Since when do my mum needs an appointment to talk to her daughter?!Wow! Have a great dinner!" You were a sobbing mess at this point. All of the relatives were gawking at you with such shock that their stares almost made you feel naked. They never in your 25 years had seen you disrespecting or even speaking in a remotely louder tone than your 'I am good.'
