-Lucy Urbinati-
I've only been here for a day and I've already managed to ridicule myself, twice. I thought that living here meant being away from people, and being able to have some peace for once, but no, I had to make the only two people around for kilometers think I'm stupid.
So, I tried to look as normal as I could as he was staring at me with those blue eyes and straight teeth. He awkwardly smiled at me, taking a few steps forward.
"Hi, sorry didn't mean to scare you I was about to knock but heard you coming so I just waited... I'm Niall by the way." he says with an Irish accent, moving his hands around as he talks which made me roll my lips into my mouth, trying to hide my smile.
"Yeah I figured that out, I'm Lucy." I say, moving slightly before closing the car door behind me. I looked at him, before looking at the ground to try and avoid looking at his eyes, clearing my throat.
"I um-I just wanted to introduce myself since I'm your new neighbor." he says softly, I look back up at him, and now he is the one looking away, scratching the back of his neck.
"That's what I was going to do earlier today, I'm really sorry if I scared you but I couldn't find your front door with all the trees and stuff..." his face distorted and his cheeks became slightly pink and I could clearly see that he was uncomfortable, which reassured me, because in any other situation I would be the one feeling this way. I nodded at him, my lips forming a line.
"Oh yeah um, it was my fault really. I mean there are windows everywhere, I should have known better..." I try to fake laugh my way through it, and look down at my fingers playing with my keychain, not able to look at him to ask my question.
"But you didn't see anything...did you?" I ask, frowning as I shift my weight on my feet. God this is so embarrassing, but at least I'm not the only one feeling it.
"Oh no, god no!" he is quick to say, shaking is hands in front of him. I let go of the breath I was holding, feeling relief wash over me I let out a breathy laugh, placing one strand of hair back behind my ear.
"Thank god that would have been even more embarrassing." I mumble, widening my eyes at the thought.
He crosses his arms against his chest before breaking the silence.
"Do you live here by yourself? You seem a little young to live alone in this big house." He says, turning to his side to glance at the house then back at me.
"Yeah, but it's just for a little while, my friend his supposed to move in next week actually." I respond, smiling awkwardly at him, I'm so bad when meeting new people and to be honest he does look kind of scary with his height and big muscles.
I mean I live in the middle of nowhere, and the only people around are two dudes who look like they could kill me in their sleep. And If I'm being honest I wouldn't even mind, but I'm sure the few people who care about me would probably be sad if I end up drowned in the lake or something.
But something, I don't know what it is makes me feel like I could trust him. He just looks friendly and reassuring, it almost makes me want to smile. He nodded at me, before smiling, showing off his perfect teeth.
"Oh okay, that's cool. Well, if you need anything until your friend gets here don't hesitate to come and ask us, I live with a friend too, his name is Harry he won't mind." I smiled at him; it honestly makes me feel better because I can just tell he means it.
"That's really nice of you, thank you. Yeah I already met him, well kind of." I slightly raise my eyebrows and shake my head at the memory. He looks at me, confusion written all over his face as he watches me.
