Home from practice. Nothing's going to stand between me and good old Bob. I bet he misses me.
Levi was in the kitchen eating chips and browsing through his phone. Typical.
The guys had a bye week, which meant no game tonight. Time for rest and relaxation.
"Hey Liv." He greeted me without looking up from his phone.
"Hey." I went over to the cabinet and pulled out a packet of strawberry pop tarts.
I barely got to open them when a strange noise from the backyard found its way to my ears.
I peered through the screen door leading to our backyard.
Ouch!
I brought my hand to my forehead and started to rub it. My head collided with the clear door. But in my defense, if you saw what I saw you'd forget the door was there too.
I turned to Levi who was still on his phone. "Why's there a horse in our backyard?"
"Technically he's a miniature pony."
Okay.... "Why's there a mini pony in our backyard?"
Levi got up from his seat and joined me at the backdoor. "That's Buckwheat. He's for the school carnival tomorrow."
"Why do you have him?"
"I'm running the kids petting zoo this year. Buckwheat's the main attraction. This one's going to be the best one yet." Could his smile be anymore smug?
I don't believe he answered the question though.
"Right, so why do you have him?" I repeated, hoping to get a real answer this time.
"I'm supposed to watch him till his owner picks him up after the carnival." He crossed the kitchen and sat back down at the table, phone in hand.
I turned my attention from the creature in my kitchen back to the beautiful creature outside. He was the cutest thing I had ever seen. He was standing at about 3 feet tall, he was a gorgeous light brown color, with a single white stripe going down the front of its face. His legs looked as if they were wearing small socks due to the white around the hooves.
"Crap."
I turned towards my brother who has seemed to forgotten about something.
I'm sure I would regret asking this but I decided to ask anyways. "What's wrong?"
"I forgot to pick up the pot belly pig and deliver it to Lewis."
I'm sorry, what? He was saying this like this was a normal sentence to come out of someone's mouth.
"Could you keep an eye on Buckwheat for me until I get back? I shouldn't be long."
"Of course." I agreed with a much more excited tone than I wanted to express. But I mean come on, how many people get to spend their Friday night with an adorable miniature pony.
That sounded more innocent in my head.
"Thanks. I'll be right back." He left in a hurry.
As I watched him leave my thoughts ran to Tyler. This was a bye week. Sawyer was with Chloe and I was sure that Colson was with Brittany. Levi wasn't with Nicole because he said it was her time of the month and she was more bitchy than usual. Normally I would take offense to that but we are talking about Nicole here. But that also brings me to my point, why wasn't I with Tyler? He didn't even ask to hang out.
