Chapter 9 : Dream

They were back at the Sabaody Islands. They had to let the ship being covered by an old sailor. He needed four days, which meant that they had to sleep in a small camp beside the shop of the sailor. Kid wanted to supervise the work, but beside him, everyone was allowed to wander freely between the islands. The most part of the crew was gone the entire day including Killer. After what happened the last time she was there, Lanniya didn't want to leave the camp. She spent all her time training her fighting skills.

One day, she noticed some pirates sneaking around the boat. It was no uncommon thing that some minor pirates would try to steal the boats in Sabaody. She went to Kid, hoping that he would do something about it. He was currently just watching the sailor at the bottom of the ship.

- Captain, there are some pirates looking for our ship to steal.

- I see. Where are they?

- Hiding in those bushes over there.

- You don't mind if I let you take care of them alone ?

As he saw how she was looking at him, he added :

- It will make you train.

She deployed her blade. He looked at her from head to toe and Lanniya sighed of exasperation. She was wearing a new black corset which was pretty sexy and revealing.

- If you just wanted to hook up, you had to tell it at the beginning, she said coldly.

- Oh no, I had better plans for you, and I still do.

His tongue traced the line of his lips. She leaned her blade on her shoulder, waiting for someone to show up.

- To all the robbers here, my mate here is waiting for you.

At first, no one came. Lanniya yawned and at that moment, a man came running to her with his saber, ready to slice her. She took out her small dagger and stabbed him in the chest. She then slowly turned the blade to rip everything inside of him. He coughed blood and fell on his knees. She stepped on his wrist to make him let go of his saber. One by one, other men came to fight her but she all defeated them pretty easily. When it stopped, a bunch of corpses were lying everywhere on the grass. Kid looked proudly at her, seeing her dreadful smile.

When the crew arrived, what they saw was Lanniya, sitting on a pile of corpses and sharpening her blade, and Kid, sitting on the front desk. They could hear them argue from pretty far away. It was a surprising show in front of their eyes. As they approached, Kid stopped the arguing and waited to hear what they had to say. They explained everything they bought as Kid smiled, satisfied.

- Tomorrow will be our last day in Sabaody, he announced. Be ready for the New World.

The crew decided to throw a party at the camp. Even if she liked to dance and to have fun, Lanniya didn't like to be around drunk men. Usually, she found an excuse to go away, but this day, when she saw that even the captain and Killer were down for it, she chose to make efforts. They grilled meat on a campfire, drank and sang. She drank along and for the first time, she really had fun with the crew. They were not as insistant as she thought they would be.

As the night went on, they started to have common conversations altogether. Kid was asking specific questions about who stole this or who did that and asked how his crew would react in precise situations. He was the only one on a chair with one of his legs on the side and a cup of sake in his hand.

- If I got caught and taken to Impel down, how many of you would come and try to liberate me ? he asked with his usual sassy smirk.

Almost all of them raised their hands cheering. The ones that did not were the usual cowards Kid used to bully. Lanniya was hesitating.
