Chapter 30 : Forgiveness

For a while, no one talked as Kid sat back. Killer started to understand. Lanniya liked them a lot. She knew how this would end and she did everything in her power to stop it, even if she had to sacrifice her relationship with Kid because of that. He could tell that she was still in love with him and after everything she did for them, Kid's attitude was unfair.

- Kid, we need to talk.

He looked madly at the others who went away.

- What ?

- Poor her.

Kid put his head in his hands. Killer knew that he regretted it a little bit but was too prideful to admit it.

- I can't go over it. She betrayed us and lied about you.

- She didn't lie, she didn't tell you, that's different. And have you lost your brain ? She betrayed us because she loved us.

He looked at him straight in the eyes.

- She loved you. And I would be surprised if she always does after what you told her.

He knew that he had touched a sensible spot. Kid looked more worried now.

- You really think that she...

- I'm only sure that she firmly thinks that it's all over with you and us.

He left him. Kid thought a little bit but couldn't take it. He was really angry at Lanniya, but he had been so worried at the same time. So worried that it became anger. He missed her too. He knew he couldn't do it without her. He stood up and went to search for her. He saw her, collapsed on the ground.

From a corner, Nico Robin was watching the scene. She saw Kid coming to Lanniya, tiding her scythe and looking at her state. His face showed that he was worried for her. He looked at her head and her eyes opened slowly, but not enough to recognise him. He took her in his arms carefully and carried her away. Robin was relieved to see that he seemed to be caring a lot about Lanniya. She smiled and joined her crew.

After a couple of hours, Lanniya regained consciousness in her room. Her chest was naked and draped in stripes. She tried to sit but the pain was too intense. A hand forced her to lay down again and voice hushed her.

- You are not healed yet.

When Lanniya rose her head, she saw Kid. He looked worried and almost ashamed. A million questions came into her mind. Her emotions were mixed. When she started to think normally again, she was just happy to see him again. He sat on the side of her bed. His chest was bandaged. His hand rested on her cheek.

- Kid... You came to pick me...

- Ah, it's OK, I know what you will tell me, he said ashamed.

She didn't say a thing. Tears were blurring her sight.

- Are you still mad at me ?

Her tone was so soft and scared that his heart melted. He hated to love her so much. But maybe it could be a good thing after all. He went to Lanniya and kissed her forehead and her cheek. He slowly wiped her tears. What if Hawkins had been right ?

- I'm the one who is supposed to apology, he said.

She cuddled herself against his chest and hugged him tightly. He gasped and hugged her back, his lips kissing every bit of skin that he could reach. He finally reached her lips. It was so good. It broke the tension that was still between her. When she parted, he stroked her hair, smiling, while she was tracing his muscles with her fingers. It made him feel sexy to feel her touch against his body again.

- I should go get some food for you, love.

The day after, when Killer came to look how she was doing, he found her in Kid's arms, both asleep. He sighed in relief. Everything was OK, now.
