Chapter 29 : My life for you

Two weeks went by. Lanniya stayed with the Strawhats. She didn't really talk to them, she was just squatting their food and supplies. Nico Robin was taking care of her, visibly interested by her story. Sadly for her, Lanniya was not in a mood to talk. Nami and the cook were often looking for their allies. They told Lanniya that Kid was looking for her. She just raised her shoulders.

- Don't lie to me, I know he is not trying hard to find me.

Nami seemed sorry for Lanniya and it annoyed her. She knew her captain. He would go over it at soon as Kaido would be beaten. But of course, they couldn't know that. And they couldn't know how close they were.

Their plan was to attack Kaido when he would be on the island. Together. Like that. Luffy seemed to have had enough of this. Lanniya could only agree with him. He chose the moment where Kid was planning to attack him, probably to please her.

When the D-day arrived, Lanniya was ready, even if she had a knot in her stomach. She was not ready to see them all again. God knows what Kid told them or what they thought about her departure. Lanniya silently followed the Strawhats to the place where the fight had already begun. She knew they were kinda looking at her, wondering what her reaction would be.

As she predicted, Kid was already there, fighting Kaido. But he was not alone. The whole crew was there as well and even the Heart pirates were there. Even the so called princess Lanniya met in the forest was there. They were all attacking him, not really at the same time. Luffy immediately ran towards them, visibly annoyed.

- Hey, wait for me !

Lanniya quickly hid behind some bushes and put on her mask. She didn't want Kid to see her. Not yet. Robin noticed her behavior and stopped.

- Go ahead, she told her and the others.

They did and Lanniya watched. She couldn't help but to admire Kid using his powerful. He looked incredibly good when he was fighting. She enjoyed seeing him like that, because she was certain that he wouldn't want to see her again after that. A tear came down her cheek, but she tried to ignore it.

Suddenly, Kid attacked him by the front. Their fists collapsed together and the wave of shock of their Hakis was huge. But suddenly, Kaido raised his other arm. He was going to hit Kid who was too angry to pay attention. Lanniya knew it was the moment. She jumped in the air, her scythe up in the air, blended by her Haki, and smashed his arm. His attention was now on her and she managed to hurt him a little bit. Kid saw her as well. She could see in his eyes that he was surprised. They all fell on the ground, Lanniya between Kaido and Kid.

The battle continued. It was not easy but after a long time, they managed to make Kaido flee in front of them. He was probably not hurt that much, but had enough of them. A lot of people were hurt, but Kid, Luffy and Law were standing despite their wounds, even if they were the most badly injured. It took a couple minutes to the people to realise that it was over. A lot of them collapsed but Lanniya stood up on her feet. Kid sat down and she went to him but stayed at a good distance. He saw her and went to her.

- You're the one behind that, huh ?

Lanniya was not expecting him to be that angry still.

- When we arrived, he continued, there was all the allies of the Strawhats, ready to fight Kaido as well.

- Yes, I'm the one who did this.

She had enough to shut up, suddenly. She wanted to justify herself.

- I know what it is to you. A betrayal. From someone you trust furthermore. I totally assume what I did.

- Then how dare you coming to us ?

- Let me talk, Eustass Kid ! she yelled.

The others were shocked. Lanniya was rarely that angry. She was tired to always risk her life for him. She wanted to make things clear.

- First, I didn't tell you about Killer because our operation was tricky and I didn't need to have your anger to rule. Second, I did this because otherwise, you would be all dead. I wanted to have a revenge as well, but even if I didn't like it, I had to admit that we couldn't do it alone.

Tears were starting to drop again.

- I still want to be in this crew. I knew it would risk it all, but I didn't want you to die.

Lanniya went away, sure that it was over, that she was alone again, without the person she loved the most. Her wounds started to hurt and she fell, somewhere else in the battlefield. She ended up by loosing consciousness.
