Chapter 20 : Unfortunate alliance

As Killer planned it, they were there a week later. Kid was not there. He was informing himself about the recent alliance of the Strawhat and Trafalgar Law. He didn't seem to care that much about this alliance. Killer let Lanniya to watch them inside the big room. She had not said a word. She couldn't trust them. She even had your mask on. She could see in their eyes that they didn't like her either. Even Killer seemed more friendly than them. It took a long time, probably because Kid was thinking out loud. After a pretty long time, they arrived. When Kid entered, he immediately screamed in disappointment. Lanniya knew why. He hated Apoo.

- How inhospitable of you, Kid. You invite people to make them wait, commented Hawkins.

- Ah shut up, you creep.

- I knew you only wanted to fight us, claimed Apoo, preparing to fight.

Kid did as well. Lanniya had enough. She jumped on the table, deploying her scythe. She felt how much they hated each others. And with Kid's anger issues, this alliance really wasn't on a good start.

- Please, we wanted to ask you for an alliance, tried Killer to calm them down.

Lanniya threw bones to scotch them to the chair. Yeah, it wasn't fair, but whatever. For a moment, it seemed to calm things down. Hawkins took out a bone, looked at it with no expression and threw it on the floor.

- If you think that I'll respect someone who fights in a bra.

It was true, the only things she was wearing were a black pants and a black bra. She ignored him and went to sit at her place. Kid looked as unhappy as her.

- Crane, you can take off your mask.

- To let them know my face ? Never.

- I see that you know how to be obeyed in your crew, commented Apoo.

- Captain, tell me I can kill them after we kill Kaido. I don't want to obey to someone who can't draw proper eyebrows.

With no surprise, the meeting was no big success. They still seemed to have an agreement on the strategy to have. But Lanniya was pissed off. She refused to show them her power or her face. Seeing that she would not let go of that, Kid sighed and told her to do as she was pleased. Killer regretted to have invited Apoo. It was even more complicated.

But she didn't waste her time in the following days. She observed them carefully using their powers. She was seeking all weaknesses she could. One time, when hazard made Killer be close to her when she was watching them, a thought escaped her lips.

- In fact, if we kill every member of Hawkins' crew, we can kill him.

- What are you talking about ?

- He's got all those strange puppets of his crew inside him and can report his wounds on them. So, if we kill them all, he's not going to be able to use them and will be way easier to kill.

- You really want to kill them ?

- Well, it would be better for us if we did. They are both powerful.

Killer was a little bit confused. He didn't know why Lanniya hated them so much.

- Crane, why don't you see the actual alliance as it is and stop thinking about killing ?

- Sorry, I just can't trust them.

He stayed silent. When he thought further about it, it was not a so bad idea.

- So... You say that you have a plan to kill them ?

- Not a plan. I'm just watching and looking for weaknesses.

She sighed.

- You're not wrong, I'm maybe doing too much. But Hawkins' expressionless face and Apoo's past don't make me trust them. I prefer to be ready if we had to fight them in the future.

- Just try to not ruin our alliance with your crime desires. I know what's happening between you and Kid, which is maybe why he tolerates your behavior.

- He told you, huh ? Not surprised.

- Well I knew you were sleeping together, but I was surprised to know that this whole shit was more serious.

- Yeah, I know, I'm just a slut to you.

Lanniya went away. She had thought that Killer could be an ally, but apparently not. He went to Kid to talk about her. He didn't like how close they were. Not that he was jealous, but he thought he knew why Kid was so crazy about her, and he thought it was bullshit. The look on Kid's face when he arrived showed that he had heard their little conversation.

- What's wrong again ? Kid sighed. I'm tired to be in the center of your arguments.

- You know what I think about her.

He sat beside Kid. Even if he was his best friend, Kid would've preferred that they could tolerate each other.

- Do you love her that much ?

- Killer, my sentimental life doesn't concern you.

- What do you find so special about her ?

- Come to talk about that when you'll find a nice girl.

Killer didn't answer. He had a point.

- Is it because of what the other weird eyebrows guy told you years ago ? And is it why you wanted him to build an alliance ?

- Nothing to say about that.

- You believed him ? Seriously ?

- I never said that !

He went away, not wanting Killer to see his face.

- Yeah, maybe I've had a hope at some time, but it's nothing like that.
