Lanniya spent the two next days to wander in the forest. She vaguely heard some rumors about the Mugiwaras hidden somewhere in the surroundings. There was a thing that she wanted to make clear. It would probably cost her her place in the crew and in Kid's heart, but at least he would be alive. Because she knew that he would attack Kaido like that, without a plan.
Lanniya finally found them in a glade, around a fire. There had been a problem with their initial plan as well. She hoped that they would be easier to convince. Surprisingly, they were joking a little bit. She managed to get some foods from the Beasts and put them in a bag. Once she had spotted them, she walked straight to them and threw the bad of food at them. She stood there, silent, waiting for them to say something. Luffy was there, looking at the food with stars in his eyes but a blond man reminded him that she was armed and he looked back at her.
- You are the girl who was with Kid, right ?
Lanniya just sat down.
- I don't want to help him with his problems, he answered sharply. Go tell him.
- He didn't send me.
She saw that he was confused.
- I went away. He is completely mad because... because of what they did to his nakama.
- I can understand. But he doesn't need my help.
- Him, not, or at least he pretends so. I'm the one who is asking for your help, if I can call it so.
- And what tells us that you are not trying to betray us ?
She took off her mask. She saw the woman that she identified as Nico Robin gasp. Lanniya looked at her.
- Yes, it is what you think.
The others looked at Robin, waiting for an explanation.
- I thought they killed them 8 years ago.
- Garp did, but he let the children alive. I'm the oldest.
- You know grandpa ? asked casually Luffy.
I forgot he was his grandson. Definitely, this crew is not usual.
- Why would Garp kill your parents ? asked another girl.
- Her mother, Iruza, left the Marine to marry a revolutionary. I don't know the details beside that, completed Robin.
She looked deep in Lanniya's eyes.
- I've met her a couple times. You really look like her.
- I know. That's why I hide my face.
She turned to Luffy.
- But you saw it in Udon. Usually, I would kill you, but I'm enough with foolish actions. And you saved my captain's life.
- I don't see where you're going.
- I propose our help in the name of the Kid's pirates to help you beat Kaido. The time that you make another plan will be the time Kid will need to recover. His help will be useful to you and it will prevent him to get killed.
- Well, I don't know Kid, said the cook. But if you do something like that, wouldn't you risk your life ?
Lanniya smiled sadly.
- My life ? I don't know. But I risk a lot. I'm tired of this country. As long as Killer and our other nakamas are safe out there, I don't care about what Kid will do to me.
- You are ready to betray them to save them ? asked Nami, a little bit shocked.
- When you like some people, you must be ready to betray them for their own good.
Lanniya looked at Luffy. He was the one who could decide anything. He looked seriously in her eyes for a moment. She held his gaze, knowing that she was perfectly honest.
- OK. We'll do it, he finally said. Feel free to stay with us if it's better for you.
She bowed in front of him. Maybe he could become the next pirate king after all... She had a tremendous amount of respect towards him.
