Chapitre 14 : The missing piece

Things couldn't be worse.

How could've Kid been so confident and foolish ? When he heard that Shanks was in the area, he decided to confront him. And now the whole crew was stuck in an ambush while Kid and Killer were fighting the Yonko. Lanniya was frustrated to not be able to use her power properly. It would've made the fight so easier. She rushed the survivals to go back to the boat. Since her captain was at the other side of the island, she planned on moving the boat to face them and make them a way to escape. Kid would maybe be a little bit mad, but there was no issue left.

She did so. From where she was, she could vaguely see the fight. It seemed to be horrible. She told Heat to take care of the wounded and went closer to tell Killer that the ship was there. Kid would never listen. With a couple of discrete signs, he understood and told her as silently to stay hidden until they came. She found a quiet place far enough to not be hurt by the fight. But soon, she found footprints of a man that were recent. She followed them to a glade. A man was in the shadow. She deployed your scythe, thinking that it was one of Shanks' men. But when he came to her, there was Aokiji in front of her sight. He calmly came to her, as if he had waited on her.

- Crane, right ? I've been looking for you everywhere on Grand Line.

- Why ?

He sat down again without breaking eye contact.

- You seem strangely related to another young girl I wanted to meet. The Flower Knight.

At that moment, Lanniya was glad she had her mask on. She tried to look as neutral as possible.

- What makes you think that I'm related to her ?

- Just the way she disappeared. The Flower Knight, or Lanniya of her real name, was doing great on Grand Line and suddenly disappeared. A couple weeks later, we noticed that Kid had someone new by his side. A girl, the same age as Lanniya, who made herself called Crane.

- True, you were in the Marine in those times.

- Can I ask you questions about her ?

- Why are you interested in her ?

- For some reasons, he said seriously. I want to know if she really knows who she is.

- Stop talking like she is alive.

- I repeat my question : will you answer mines ?

Lanniya looked quickly at the fight. In a few minutes, Killer would escape and come this way.

- Yes, until my captain comes.

He seemed pretty satisfied. He stood up to face her.

- What were your links to her ?

- We were cousins, you lied.

- Cousins ? he seemed surprised. I didn't know that they had siblings...

She acted as if she had heard nothing.

- When her parents died, our family was bullied as well. We had not enough money because my father spent it all on alcohol. We were very close. She decided to steal money on Grand Line and I helped her.

- We thought she acted alone.

- I was often away. My goal was to fight. I didn't have to care about money, she won enough for two families.

- How come she died, then ?

- I killed her. Kid asked us to come in his crew but her freedom was more important, you spit out. I threw the body somewhere I can't remember and joined Kid.

- What was her family name ? he asked suddenly.

- Omayar, she said confidently.

- Do you know what that name means ? he was more serious as ever.

- No, I mean, we were on a lost island in the New World.

She didn't understand what was wrong. All this conversation became highly suspicious to her. But luckily, Killer came at that moment. He was holding Kid on his back. Her captain was screaming for an unknown reason to her. Her only mission was now to assure that them all three come back alive at the ship. She did and she gave the last orders to leave this island. Killer was panting and it's only after Lanniya heard the crew scream in horror that she looked back at Kid.

He was lying and bending of pain. The only thing around him was blood and he was holding his arm. That's when she realized what was off : he had no arm. She fell on the ground, her hand on her mouth, ready to throw out in disgust. Killer brought him in his cabine and called the doctor. Since they were both away, it was her duty to run the ship. And it's what she did until dawn. And the day after. And the other after. Lanniya slept very few hours and hoped that Killer would soon come out. Once he came out, she rushed to him, even if it was midnight.

- Aren't you sleeping ?

- Seriously ? Our captain just lost an arm and you haven't come out for days ! How could I sleep ?

Killer took his head into his hand.

- Let's go ahead, I'll tell you what happened.

- So ? she said as they were sat down at the back of the ship.

- The fucking red hair cut his arm out of nowhere.

- What ? I thought you were fighting !

- We weren't ! I know it seems crazy, but we kept arguing this whole time. At one point, he called Kid arrogant and he just laughed at it.

- Typical from him.

- The next thing we knew was that Kid's arm was on the ground.

Lanniya put her hand on her mouth.

- Is he OK, now ?

- Kinda. Physically, it's OK, but you know him.

- Can I go and see him ?

- He said he didn't want you to see him.

- Come on.

- I'm serious.

- I want to see him, she said, running to his room.

But Killer was faster. He took her arm but she tried to hit him so he pushed her on the ground.

- He said he didn't want to see you, Lanniya, he screamed.

She looked at him, feeling incredibly betrayed and knowing deep inside that she would get her way.
