Chapter 18 : That's who we are

After she calmed down, Lanniya went back to the house. It was about night and Tirsa was inside, in her room. She could hear Kid and Olek talking inside.

- So that's why the Marine has not attacked us since she is in our crew.

Olek raised his shoulders.

- I'm not sure if they know her real identity.

- Well, we can't be sure about that. Aokiji has suspicions.

At that moment, she entered. Olek seemed relieved and Kid looked worried about her. She went to her parents' room. It was where they were supposed to sleep.

- Lanniya, is everything OK ? asked Kid.

- I'm going to sleep.

He just nodded and went back to Olek. Even if she wanted to sleep with him, Lanniya laid on the mattress Olek installed for them. When Kid went to sleep, he was quiet unhappy to see her on the mattress on the floor. He took her and laid her beside him. She woke up and saw him.

- I know you're down but you won't sleep on the floor.

She sighed and and sat. Kid laid and took her shoulders, forcing her to lay on his chest. She resisted but soon gave up. She cuddled against his chest smelling his scent. He stroked her back slowly.

- I love you, she said.

It surprised him, but he soon kissed your forehead. It was a little bit hard to say such things for him, so he showed his affection like that. Lanniya knew it, and didn't mind. She woke up before him and went outside to find her brother waving at Tirsa. She waved at her too, and she smiled so preciously that Lanniya couldn't help but smile too. She ran in direction of the village while Olek and her bigger sister looked at her. Lanniya felt bad about her behavior the day before.

- I should go to the mayor and thank him.

- No, the people will recognize you.

- Are you sure ? she said looking at her clothes.

He chuckled. She decided to trust him.

- I'm sorry for yesterday.

- That's OK. You are a pirate... We can't know if our parents would be happy of that.

- I don't think they would.

Lanniya sighed. She felt a big burden on her shoulders.

- I just feel like I disappointed them.

- But you didn't disappointed us, he smiled. You did so much for us. You were risking you life everyday to give us to eat. But you know, there is something about this whole story that is unclear to me...

- I think we think about the same thing. Why are we still alive, huh ?

- If they knew where they were, they surely knew about us. Maybe because we weren't at home...

- If they really wanted them dead, they would've killed us too, or as least taken us with them to make good powerful little Marines. It makes no sense that we are alive and let alone.

- Let alone... Kid said that the Marines were kinder with you.

- They don't know for sure that I'm an Omayar. All they know is that I claimed to have killed the Flower Knight and that she was probably one. I always wear a mask and I changed my look as best as I could, so...

- They're not dumb.

- At least Aokiji is not, she said. But he's not a Marine anymore. And even though, I don't trust him.
